A Supreme Court clerk reports that shouting and conflict between the justices of the nation's highest court occurred on Friday, Dec. 11, as the court was deciding to reject a Texas lawsuit challenging presidential election results in four key swing states.

“Somehow...someway...Roberts needs to be legally removed from the SCOTUS“
Well, I’d be fine with illegal for that matter. Roberts seems to give lots of credence to illegal acts...so follow his logic.
The only thing I really believe about this report is that Kavanaugh walked out of the room with a big smile on his face...that guy just strikes me as a lightweight who would not care about the gravity of the decision.
Me, too. Wife won't let me back in the house until I've quarantined, but I think it's time for a "futile gesture."
We'll have to deal with counter-protesters-rioters, but if there are more than a few of us they'll hide since they don't like people that fight back.
Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, ACB....Trump has appointed some real lemmings to the bench ....has’t he.
Well, Trump did nothing to BLM and Antifa last summer. He had his chance but didn’t want to do anything.
I said at the time of her nomination that the BEST case scenario we could get was an equally divided 3-3-3 court (3 solid conservatives, 3 squishy "Republican" judges who can defect to the dark side on any given case, and 3 hardcore marxists)
FReepers thought I was being WAY too pessmistic with that one. Numerous FReepers accepted the "fact" that Trump had "cemented a conservative majority for decades", and while they sneered about how Bush betrayed us with Roberts, they were convinced Trump's judges were all pure as driven snow, and went around sighing "God Bless PDJT for keeping his campaign pledge to give us pro-life Scalia-like judges!!!"
Of course I noted at the time that Gorsuch had already voted to the LEFT of Roberts on at least three cases, Kavanaugh had gone on record saying Roe v. Wad was super-duper "settled law" and had shown little evidence he was any sort of improvement over Anthony Kennedy (the squish he succeeded), and the jury was still out on ACB although she APPEARED to be an actual sincere conservative in her personal life, UNLIKE Trump's first two SCOTUS picks)
I gave about a 5% chance that ACB would turn out to be a dud. Based on her first major action on the court being a HUGE failure, I'd take those odds up to about 20% now (which is ironically more optimistic that most of you are feeling about ACB right now). If she DOES turn out to be an otherwise 100% across-the-board solid conservative for the rest of her tenure, we can chalk up her first action on the court as simply being total cowardice. If they ever do a "Profiles in Cowardice" book, she could be Chapter 1.
Darn. Another BS detector just broke.
I'm with you. Said it to myself two days ago.
Hit 'em with a 100 megaton blast and take out the entire swamp.
Frame him for pedophilia (he probably is one)? Frankly, I’m there.
If this is accurate he’s a bigger POS than I thought. Gor and the woman are weak for letting him push them around.
And if Kav was “smiling” god damn. Big ol told ya so for you.
Thank you for explaining why this story is less realistic than a pulp novel.
WTF was that a-hole Roberts ever made Chief Justice? It seems odd that a chief would not be one with seniority of the majority of the court but I guess that is to simple minded.
I can see Roberts coming up with that logic. He sees Republicans as law abiding citizens and good losers.
”…At a court held in Hillsborough in September, 1770, a mob of more than one hundred and fifty Regulators, headed by Herman Husband, Rednap Howell, William Butler, and James Howell, armed with clubs and bludgeons, entered the court house during the sitting of the court, drove the presiding judge from the bench, beat up William Hooper and John Williams, two prominent attorneys, dragged Edmund Fanning through the streets, and after whipping him severely, destroyed his furniture, valuable papers and other personal effects, and demolished his house. After maltreating and abusing several other prominent gentlemen, they took possession of the court house, organized a mock court, and having secured possession of the court dockets, made many scurrilous and profane entries therein….”
This is what happened in North Carolina after multiple polite petitions for redress. It is the inevitable path when We the People are treated with contempt and ignored by those who would fashion themselves as our "Betters." This was the true first shot of the Revolution, not Lexington.
Did you miss when they swore in an ineligible Kenyan from Indonesia?
Agreed—and Roberts of course could further have had a handler looking for him to handle it as such.
“Roberts and the liberals and Kavanaugh had big smiles;”
Kavanaugh also?
I don’t know which conspiracy theory this one started with... but I am LMAO. Who comes up with this stuff?
If you have an employee who does not do their job as expected, you fire them. What the hell good is the SCOTUS since they refused to hear the most important case in the nation’s history?
Kavanaugh has rubbed me the wrong way all along too. But all the characterizations are believable, including Gorsuch being cowed after having put up enough of a fight to need the shouting from Roberts—and ACB quietly and unflappably going along too.
Thomas has been the one real brass-balled giant on the court, more than Scalia, for decades.
I agree
