JR hisself cancelled my monthly donation, since it was insufficiently aligned with prevailing opinion for 2 weeks.

I had an interesting experience tonight. My neighbor, 60 or so year old lawyer, head of small firm, very solid guy, stopped me in the driveway and asked if he might borrow one of my guns for household defense. No problem, I have tons. But It occurred to me that he was actually worried about home invasion. In my neighborhood that is laughable. The teens all look like Harry Potter and the adults are either doctors or lawyers or corporate types.
I wonder why he is afraid all of a sudden. Very puzzling.
I have an old 12 gauge break action with a 16” barrel. A monkey could make it work. I can only pray he doesn't have to fire it.

Coconut oil.
As far as I can tell it does not go bad unless really mistreated.
I have opened a sealed container five years after it's Best By date and it was perfectly fine.

Many decades ago, I worked with a guy who was a real outdoorsman.
I asked him if he was a survivalist, and he said that a real survivalist would never tell you that they were. So if he said no, it didn’t mean he wasn’t.
So too with real preppers.
My family knows of my prepping tendencies but I don’t talk much about it beyond that.

cancelled my monthly donation, since it was insufficiently aligned with prevailing opinion for 2 weeks. Gee that sounds fairly serious.
I don't spose you care to mention the cause of the dispute?

That is an easy fix....buy another gun safe or two ;) They're probably all sold out, too.

Neat, there is a drop 45 minutes away!!
They have grown. Back when I check them out there wasn’t a drop anywhere near.

Gasoline can deteriorate though and must be treated and used within a reasonable time frame.
Mr. mm is anal about that.
One FReeper mentioned once that whenever there is weather expected, he empties the gas cans into his vehicle and buys fresh to fill those back up.
That way the gas never gets too old and ruined.

I supported the guy I thought was most ideologically conservative a little longer (two weeks) than prevailing opinion preferred. Ted Cruz. Turns out that Trump is excellent, but a time lag was enough to be shunned to purgatory.
After 4 years, I may re-up my monthlies if they’ll take my tainted money.

I would love to know how to can butter. I just canned a bunch of bacon, and that’s another one the FDA says we’re not supposed to do. I just opened my last jar that I canned about 5 years ago and it’s just fine. I have a bunch of powdered butter but it doesn’t have that oiliness that is necessary in some dishes. Just the flavor. In a prepping situation when we are working hard and limiting what we are eating, fats will be important.

Congrats on being a survivor. I kept my head down and nose clean. I only lurked on the political threads and posted only on the garden or prepper threads.
We lost a lot of interesting people and I miss most of them-but not all. LOL

One thing you all might want to consider for water is an RO filter.
They are not all that big.
Mr. mm bought one a few years ago to make purified water and it works great. It takes a while and you use more water than you get, cause there is run off.
I’ll find out where he got it because I don’t think it was the expensive Home Depot models.
