Processed food NOT fat is the real cause of heart disease, claims heart surgeon who says a diet of natural food can even reverse the illness
Dr. Dwight Lundell admits prescribing cholesterol-lowering medications, and a low-fat, high-simple carbohydrate diet for two-and-a-half decades was misguided 'These recommendations are no longer scientifically or morally defensible,' he writes in an essay that has ignited the Internet He vlaims these foods actively destroy the walls of our blood vessels by causing chronic inflammation, which in turn causes heart disease The cardiac surgeon recommends only eating foods your grandmother, or great-grandmother, would recognise
An Arizona heart surgeon's claim that a diet of unprocessed foods - not necessarily low-fat foods - can prevent and even reverse heart disease has ignited the Internet.
Dr. Dwight Lundell has dished the dirt on 'what really causes heart disease' and he admits prescribing cholesterol-lowering medications, and a low-fat, high-simple carbohydrate diet for two-and-a-half decades was misguided.
'These recommendations are no longer scientifically or morally defensible,' he writes in the essay, that has been posted on some 250,000 Facebook pages since it appeared on a website called Tuned Body in December.
He explains that this once 'healthy' diet actively destroys the walls of our blood vessels by causing chronic inflammation. This inflammation makes cholesterol stick to the walls, forming the plaques that eventually block them, resulting in a heart attack or stroke.
'When you spike your blood sugar level several times a day, every day, it is exactly like taking sandpaper to the inside of your delicate blood vessels,' he writes.
The former cardiac surgeon, who says he's 'peered inside thousands upon thousands of arteries' slams refined carbohydrates as well as the proportion of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the Western diet.

Didn’t the Atkins Diet expose the ‘fat is a killer’ lie, many moons ago?
Eat more bacon and eggs and butter. How much more natural can you get?
I always say look at the ingredients in a common loaf of bread today, vs bread made 50 years ago.
There is a difference and I would guess not for the good.
Our family is a diabetes factory. We reduced carbohydrate intake drastically and are now much healthier. I am personally much healthier on a meat centric diet. Add some veggies and I feel great.
yum yum,,, love those nuts and broccoli !

Go figure.
Grab and squeeze a supermarket loaf of bread. The less squishy the better. Some breads billed as whole wheat are quite squishy.
The biggest scam is calling bread "wheat bread". This fools some into thinking they are eating some whole wheat bread. In reality its just a load of white flour with a smattering of whole wheat
This is nothing new.
Dr. Fred Otoboni and his wife Dr. Alice Otoboni found that polyunsaturated fats are a big part of heart disease, and type 2 diabetes, and that was many years ago.
NOMS!!
Think I’ll cook up a big slab right now!
Grind and Cook the flour yourself. Avoid any processed flour. Especially GMO flour. You’ll feel better and have more energy.
yup, that is a better diet.
I'm up for that. Meat, taters, gravy, garden vegetables. I could eat this every day, I think.
The doctor seems to focus on the simple carbs and the glycemic response. I think the high levels of sodium in processed foods is also a big factor. If you are retaining too much water, the heart has to pump additional volume through water logged tissue. Leads to high BP, enlarged hearts, kidney issues, etc.
I hate the breads that fall apart in a sandwich. I don’t know, but I’ll bet they are the ones worst for you.
This could be a whole thread by itself, but among the lies from the drug/medical community (also noted in the article) is the multi-billion-dollar cholestrol reducing drug industry. There is more and more evidence that cholestrol doesn’t lead to heart disease, but the drugs are HARMFUL.
I now have nerve damage in my feet caused by statins. It’s annoying and painful and will never really heal. My case is minor compared to others because I discovered it early, and stopped POISONING myself with statins. Cold feet was the first major sign for me. There are Internet threads out there full of others less fortunate who kept taking the drugs even though they knew something was wrong.
If you’re taking statins you should look into this, and read up on the cholestrol thing...a lot of disagreement on it.
I cook that way, love home cooking. I’m lucky to have been taught by the best, mom and Grandma:)
those ol’ ladies could really make perfect gravy!
The problem with our dairy products is all of the antibiotics the cows are given. I’ve switched to almond milk, and the only way I’ll have dairy milk is non-fat milk and occassion hard (aged, not processed) cheese.
This is going to be a long thread.
