This is a Vanity thread.
A simple question that arose through a conversation with my wife. If Obamacare and the huge projected increases in rates, copays and deductions goes through as currently scheduled. Will the Christmas Shopping Season be effected?
My own off the cuff answer is YES! The statistical 'normal family' is stretched thin financially even in normal times and these times aren't normal by any stretch of the word. What I can see in my 'crystal ball' is that discretionary spending on Christmas presents is going to go down drastically perhaps 'crash' is another way of putting it.
If my reading of the future on this matter is correct then the effect on the economy as a whole is going to be devastating. Many businesses, perhaps most of the ones in the small business sector rely on Christmas shopping season to bring in the necessary funds to tide the business through the rest of the year and a bad shopping season will cause these businesses to go under.
And this doesn't just affect small businesses alone, the giants of the retail world such as Wal-Mart, Sears, JCPenny's and others rely just as heavily on the Christmas Shopping Season.
Cash is tight, so is credit, only the Federal Government seems to be flush and that too is an illusion as they borrow Billions every week to maintain that illusion.
So what do you think?
More likely an intentional casualty of Hussein’s islamo-fascist terrorist friends.
Christmas shopping is already a casualty of the Obama economy. Back to school sales - the best predictor of Christmas sales - were the worst in years.
That would be Black Friday’. 3 years past and BF sales have underperformed. It will be far worse this year.
It’s not just the shopping that will be affected. It’ll be the charity donations.
This is do-or-die time for the charities. From the kettles of the Salvation Army to the United Way agencies and thousands more; they ALL will be begging for money.
I think I’ll xerox my paystub only showing what my new Obamacare related health premiums will be and say: “Wish I could help you, but Uncle Hussein took all my excess charity monies AND MORE!”
ALL!
That means...pay for ONLY the necessities
This assumes people will even have a clue how much any of this costs by Christmas shopping season. So far all I’ve seen is delays.
I’m going to make handmade gifts like lap quilts, homemade jams/breads and such and donate my $ saved to candidates who are primarying RINO’s who opposed cloture to implement RINOCare.
Bottom line....Obamacare is about tracking people....their income, their assets. One lady advisor said it....as soon as you inquire...it goes into a computer.
I think it may take awhile after people sign up for obamacare and will be shocked when they start to see co pays and deductibles. They will then realize there are no free lunches and the will squeal how they’ve been snookered. Then the appeal will begin to help them with these unrealized bills. Health care is complicated and someone thinks that just signing up will be the end of their woes.

The only ones it will affect are the ones that want it defunded, i.e. “the informed”; “the Haves; the Worker Bees”.
The costs will crush us. The freeloaders - not so much.
The socialists in our government desire this outcome for the obvious reasons.
I stopped shopping on Black Friday some years ago. Much more convenient to shop online any other time, especially with free shipping. Then about 5 years ago, I went with gift cards. Let the recipient pick out the gift. Last year, the family and I agreed to do away with gifts altogether. I'm on disability, and everyone else is facing uncertain economic times. This is one expense we don't need.
Christmas looks grim as it is right now.
Probably buy a lot of second hand stuff for the kids.

Yep, charities will suffer.
Nice plan!
I'm afraid there is no "unintended" to it; the muzzie commie is waging open warfare on Christianity and America.
same for retirees....
same for illegals and deadbeats and the "earned" income crowd....
the takers will always have enough money...
but even we workers....will we NOT spend or send money to our children and our grandchildren?.....I think we will...
Last year’s season was already a casualty of Obama’s re-election. He’s going for back-to-back progressive wins. :)
