More than half of North Carolina military members surveyed in the latest Elon University poll disapprove of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and his overall job performance.

Nearly 53 percent of military members said they strongly disapproved or disapproved of Bush's handling of his job. And just more than 56 percent of that same group strongly disapproved or disapproved of how he has dealt with the Iraq war.

Overall, 53 percent of those surveyed for the poll released Friday did not approve of Bush's job performance, while 57 percent did not approve of his handling of the Iraq war.

Per Navy Times, 89% of servicepeople support Bush and 79% support Bush's prosecution of the war (sample size was 90,000 people actually in the military.)

The unwritten, but real, assumption in all reports like this one is that the American people want to pull out and go home. What I want is to WIN the damn thing. I am unhappy with the "death by a thousand cuts" strategy we have followed, particularly since the first debacle at Fallujah. Why, I ask you, do we let al-Sadr live? Why do we LET the f-ing Syrians and Iranians do so much to help kill our guys?

I'll bet a lot of the military in this survey wonder the same thing. They don't want to RUN! They want to WIN!

I tried posting this thread to discuss the reading material available at Camp LeJuene. My son has complained that the PX carries nothing but leftie books over there. They complain and the problem is straightened out for a short time only.

Filling the bookstore full of leftie garbage only sooner or later could really hurt. No, I don't trust the college to do a fair poll by any stretch of the imagination but there is a real problem with a few people in charge of MRI within the military.
