Thank you for that wonderful poem.
I hope you don't mind that I'm reposting it.

Defenders of Freedom
Defenders of Freedom, thats what we are!
No battlefield too dangerous, no region too far.
Well march thru the desert with sand in our boots,
To search out a tyrant, take aim and shoot.
Well crawl thru the jungle, hide out in the woods,
Sleep in a foxhole, Go for days without food.
Well fire our weapons, drop bombs if we must,
Unless evil surrenders, its Baghdad or bust!
From the tortured and downtrodden we hear the call;
Well hammer away till dictatorships fall,
We want the needy to know that theyre not alone,
Even tho some of us wont return home.
Well lay down our lives so you can be free,
Leave our loved ones behind for your liberty.
From Saratoga to Somalia, well sacrifice;
From Shiloh to Saigon, well pay the price;
From Omaha Beach to The South China Sea,
Wherever were needed, thats where well be!
Youll know when you see the Red, White and Blue,
Well defend your freedom because thats what we do!

Hallowe'en!!
Theres something strange going on tonight,
I swear I saw a ghostly sight!
Dressed in white, it floated past,
Its eyes aglow and moving fast!
And dreaming dreams of dogs and sheep,
And rabbits, birds and butterflies,
But never ghosts! Ill close my eyes!
I heard a groaning, moaning wail,
And then a scream which turned me pale!
I dont like this, Id better hide,
Ill maybe have to run outside!
The doors are closed, I cant escape!
I see another scary shape!
A big round face with eyes which burn,
And pointed teeth and evil grin!
And then a witch, with pointed hat,
A broomstick and a wailing cat,
A spider next, with legs which wave,
And now, a mummy, from the grave!
All these creatures stopped and stood...
I sat as quietly as I could,
Hoping they would go away,
And leave me, by myself, to play.
"Oh Wizard, just where have you been?
Dont you know its Halloween?
There are no ghosts or witches here,
Its fun, you must come out of there!"
And then I really did have fun!
I chased that ghost and watched it run!
The witchs cat was just a toy,
That mummy was a little boy!
I ate some buns and then some sweets,
I did some tricks and got some treats,
And now Im going back to sleep,
To dream of ghosts - forget those sheep!

Halloween Witch
The witches wear their pointed hats,
The witches croak and croon,
The witches ride their broomsticks,
Away beyond the moon.
The witches wear their flowing cloaks,
The witches stir their brew.
The witches chant their magic spells,
All the dark hours through.
The witches stroke their big black cats,
They comb their locks of gray,
Yet when the first faint daylight comes.
The witches hide away.

How To Treat Halloween
Read: Hebrews 11:32-12:3
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. Proverbs 10:7
Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 22-23; Titus 1
The word Halloween comes from All Hallows Eve, which was the evening before a religious holiday in Medieval England that became known as All Saints' Day. It was a time set aside by the church to commemorate its saints.
Today's celebration of Halloween, however, is more closely related to pagan customs that originated in ancient Europe. The Druids believed that the spirits of the dead returned to their former haunts during the night of October 31, so they lit torches and set out food for these unwelcome visitors. They did this out of fear, thinking they would be harmed if they didn't.
The Bible warns against all dabbling in the occult and preoccupation with witches and ghosts. What then can Christians do? One enterprising pastor had a special gathering in which he asked some of the church people to come dressed in the costumes of Bible heroes and the great saints of church history. In a dramatic way they were calling to mind the sufficiency of God's grace in the lives of His people.
Yes, the example set by that great "cloud of witnesses" in Hebrews 12:1 encourages our faith. Remembering them on Halloween can remind us of the triumph of trusting the Lord. Herb Vander Lugt
Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire, and sword
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene'er we hear that glorious word! Faber
The greatest gift anyone can give us is a godly example.

I don't think we will get any fog until after midnight.
My little one will be fast asleep by then.

Nothing has hit me yet, Amy. While I'm thinking, I thought I'd post this one from a couple of years back.
I think I know what is responsible for all this illegal immigration from Mexico and it's not jobs or welfare.
Do you recollect, back in the late '50s, when Marty Robbins was singing about the cowboys that were ready to die just to see their Mexican girlfriends one more time? You know where he sings: "Out in the west Texas town of EL Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl". Remember after this cowboy shot the other cowboy, he had to get out of town in a hurry. But, then he just had to go back and see his senorita although he knew he too might be shot if he did. "Although tomorrow a bullet may find me, tonight nothing's worst than this pain in my heart".
And , remember in the song "San Angelo", when he sang: "Back of each window, the click of a gun. Die if I stay but my love for her won't let me run".
Whoooa Nellie! I told you for sho'. Those cowhands were willing to dodge a whole slough plumb full of bullets to see their senoritas one more time.
Well, a whole passel of Mexican housewives heard those songs and they decided that they must be hotter than habaneros. So they told their husbands, "Pedro! Get jour cula across the Rio Grande and don't come back until ju are ready to take a bullet to see me like the Gringos."
Hey, there's a lot of those guys here now that can't ever go home.
