In all modesty, I can do a pretty good phonetic version of "Sukiyaki" if the grouting is just so. I've got to remember that one for the anime club here- theme songs from more current offerings are more the usual treat, so it may be time to play Stump the Youngsters.
How are you with "Dominique"?
Le Boudin is more my style, Sister Soire's hat won't fit me, and I'm more recently familiar with the Europop offerings from Axelle Red anyway- it's not too much of a stretch to think of her kicking out a duet with Millie Small or Linda Scott.
And it looks like onyx is playing hard to get here tonight.
I think it breaks her heart to hear about the music with no way to hear it...her sound player won't cooperate.
But I'm certainly in favour of letting the little girl dance....

Nice to have a little Billy Bland on the old turntable. Thanks!! Not to be confused with Bobby "Blue" Bland, or Bobby Bloom, for that matter. Somewhere around the time of Toad The Wet Sprockett or The Trashcan Sinatras I began to lose the thread of popular music and now I'm completely lost at sea. But I will be happy anytime to discuss the aforementioned Millie Small (she also had "Sweet William," equally as bad) or Linda Scott (remember she was a regular on "Where The Action Is" along with Paul Revere and the Raiders and Steve Alaimo and Keith (of "98.6" and "Ain't Gonna Lie" fame.)
Now you know what was bad? I mean embarrasingly bad -- Patty Duke singing "Please Don't Just Stand There." I would rather be subjected to unreleased Cathy Young and the Innocents demos or Robin Luke's greatest hits. And I do not doubt that you have ready access to both!!!

Nor can I recall the name of the fella who did *Fastest Thing On Wheels*. But there are worse things on heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Nothing like blaspheming Shakespeare to introduce The Buoys -- I believe the only cannibal-related song to make the Top 40. The Buoys were from Scranton, PA -- my wife's hometown -- they played at her prom!! Now there was that one by Jimmy Cross about -- ahem -- re-locating his old girlfriend in "I Want My Baby Back." I don't think I could go stride for stride with you on the really obscure stuff. I do know one Robin Luke ("Susie Darlin") piece of trivia, though. He became a professor in the school of business administration at (I believe) St. Louis University. I don't think Troy Shondell became a professor of anything, however. A fellow of infinite jest, most excellent fancy.

Now there was that one by Jimmy Cross about -- ahem -- re-locating his old girlfriend in "I Want My Baby Back. Also a subject mentioned in Warren Zevon's *Excitable Boy.* I didn't know that about Robin Luke, but the name is common enough to escape other than close attention. He was living in Hawaii when *Suzie* charted I believe, late '50s, before the surfie music phase kicked in, which makes him a bit ahead of his time.
Do you recall the B-side of *I Want My Baby Back,* BTW? It was an instrumental with a wildly suggestive title....
