Ding Dong Santa
Santa, dear Santa, you worry us so.
I feel I must tell you some things you should know.
That belly of yours just gets bigger each year.
We think it reveals too much holiday cheer.
We've started a fan club, there's three of us here.
There's me and an elf and a faithful reindeer.
You are our hero, you've touched us somehow.
You're all that we have to believe in right now.
You check us all out to see if we're naughty.
Is that glow on your nose from an extra hot toddy?
While we love to hear all your ho ho ho ho-ing,
The list of fat stories they tell just keeps growing.
Is it true that last Christmas you suffered from gout,
And those snazzy red trousers you wear were let out?
One strange vicious rumor, it's a false one we hope:
Has you dropping gifts down the chimneys by rope.
While all of your ho hos we know very well,
Your ding dongs, we fear, don't come from a bell.
They say, as your reindeer streak through the sky,
You drink cherry cokes with your raspberry pie.
The aerobics instructors are all sure to say,
"You ought to work out, maybe jog with the sleigh."
Perhaps strong exertion is too much for you.
But you really should try just a sit up or two.
So shed a few pounds, Santa, what do you say?
We all want you back to enjoy Christmas day.
Season's greetings from me, one reindeer, one elf.
Merry Christmas to you, please take care of yourself.

A little boy returned from Sunday School with a new perspective on the Christmas story.
He had learned all about the Wise Men from the East who brought gifts to the Baby Jesus.
He was so excited he just had to tell his parents: "I learned in Sunday School today all about the very first Christmas! There wasn't a Santa Claus way back then, so these three skinny guys on camels had to deliver all the toys!" And Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with his nose so bright wasn't there yet, so they had to have this big spotlight in the sky to find their way around."

Happenings
You're going to be told lots of things.
You get told things every day that don't happen.
It doesn't seem to bother people, they don't
It's printed in the press.
The world thinks all these things happen.
They never happened.
Everyone's so eager to get the story
Before in fact the story's there
That the world is constantly being fed
Things that haven't happened.
All I can tell you is,
It hasn't happened.
It's going to happen.

The Green Bowl
This little bowl is like a mossy pool
In a Spring wood, where dogtooth violets grow
Nodding in chequered sunshine of the trees;
A quiet place, still, with the sound of birds,
Where, though unseen, is heard the endless song
And murmur of the never resting sea.
'T was winter, Roger, when you made this cup,
But coming Spring guided your eager hand
And round the edge you fashioned young green leaves,
A proper chalice made to hold the shy
And little flowers of the woods. And here
They will forget their sad uprooting, lost
In pleasure that this circle of bright leaves
Should be their setting; once more they will dream
They hear winds wandering through lofty trees
And see the sun smiling between the leaves.

What a marvelous day it has been!
My son spent the night here last night. He woke us at 6:30 to tell us the news. The TV has been on all day except for about 20 minutes when we lost the satellite signal. Lost both the TV and the internet connection.
It has definitely been a day for celebrations. The world is much closer to peace tonight because of our wonderful men and women in uniform. God Bless them all.

An 80 year old couple were having problems remembering things, so they decided to go to their doctor to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong with them.
When they arrived at the doctor's, they explained to the doctor about the problems they were having with their memory. After checking the couple out, the doctor tells them that they were physically okay but might want to start writing things down and make notes to help them remember things. The couple thanked the doctor and left.
Later that night while watching TV, the old man got up from his chair and his wife asks, "Where are you going?" He replies, "To the kitchen." She asks, "Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?" He replies, "Sure."
She then asks him, "Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?" He says, "No, I can remember that."
She then says, "Well I also would like some strawberries on top. You had better write that down cause I know you'll forget that." He says, "I can remember that, you want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."
She replies, "Well I also would like whip cream on top. I know you will forget that so you better write it down." With irritation in his voice, he says, "I don't need to write that down I can remember that." He then fumes into the kitchen.
After about 20 minutes he returns from the kitchen and hands her a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a moment and says, "You forgot my toast."

Hey Spooks! Interesting science project going on here.
My breeder gave me his 'freeby' live food sample from his supplier. There are silkworms.
Instead of feeding them to my lizards, I looked them up online and dropped them into our butterfly pavillion.
They are silkworms! The same that are mass breed in Asia to make silk.
Unlike butterfly larvae, they are ugly

But watching them spin to a cocoon was FASCINATING!!!
The catepillars actually stood up vertical and sprayed silk thread into the air so it fell over them

And touching the thread, it is as strong as material (well, duh, that is what is spun into clothing...) but it is really interesting!

There are many sites out there where you can order the larvae and/or eggs. I recommend! My cocoons haven't hatched yet; but they are do within the next few days.

Hello everyone! I'm still alive and kicking in case y'all were wondering. ;-) Been very busy with 'stuff' that eats away at my FReeping time.
My daughter Melissa is engaged and I am consumed with planning a wedding. It's next December but I already feel behind the power curve. Just got home from Indianapolis where Matt and I were for the weekend. Had a great time with Missy and Nick and his parents. OMG, Nick's dad - Rich - is so much like Matt. I am afraid, very afraid, of what's going to happen at their reception! It'll be a fun party, but maybe a bit embarrasing for the newlyweds! Those guys have some great stories to tell. hahahahahaha
Sasso Update - Mentally, Sasso is almost his old 'Whiney Feliney' self again. We still don't think he can see much, if at all - BUT he has started to jump onto furniture and back down in the last week. I can't believe I am excited that my kitty can jump up on my furniture (and leave his hair and occasionally knock stuff over, etc!). ;-)
Unfortunately only a small part of his skin graft took very well. The other grafted skin died leaving a large open wound. The vet is very disappointed, but she thinks eventually the wound will heal enough that she can stretch the skin and stitch it together. We decided against trying another graft because Sasso is a high-risk patient and it may not be successful. Continued prayers for my baby are appreciated.
Hope y'all are doing well. I've missed each of you!

Meek, My suggestion about what to do with Saddam is to parade him through the streets of Baghdad with the Citizens lined up aloung the route with the go-ahead to throw anything they wanted at him. (even live grenades)

The Gift Of Obedience
Read: Zechariah 7
Should you not have obeyed the words which the Lord proclaimed? Zechariah 7:7
Bible In One Year: Hebrews 5-7
It's that time of year again when people think about God and goodwill more than they do at any other time. It seems that the nearer we get to Christmas, the more we notice that people have a willingness to express an interest in religious things. Both church attendance and church activities increase.
Does this heightened religious activity honor the Lord? We must be careful that what takes place is not what happened to the people of Zechariah's day. Although they engaged in religious activities, they were out to please only themselves. A vital element was missingobedience to God.
Instead of their conducting empty rituals, God wanted them to show their obedience to Him by: (1) administering true justice, (2) showing mercy and compassion, (3) refusing to oppress widows, orphans, and the poor, and (4) not planning evil against others (Zechariah 7:9-10).
We can best honor God during this special season by evaluating our own devotion to Him in light of these four commands to God's people. Our Lord does not want empty, self-centered religious activities from us. He wants the gift of obedience expressed in acts of kindness and helpfulness for those less fortunate than we are. Dave Branon
Try to bring God's love and kindness
Into someone's life today;
Even just a gift of caring
Can the Savior's love display. Hess
Kindness is always in season.

All I can tell you is, It hasn't happened. It's going to happen. Feb. 28, 2003, Department of Defense briefing by Donald H. Rumsfeld Good post! I think I saw that press conference, and many others like it. Rumsfeld's a saint for putting up with the imbecilic and arrogant questions from the reporters, like "How close are you to capturing Saddam?"
