Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.
More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.
My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.
There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.
I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.
American Labs (silver biotics (liquid, gel and lozenges). Everyone in our family uses it. . . all ages for different kinds of ailments! Will not be without it. Even use it with my pets. (Since first purchase now under various labels) Shop around . . .some places are so overpriced. . .watch out for the sizes (oz.) if ordering.
Could you give a short summary of the uses of Borax? Regarding DE, I did try it for a short while. On some people it makes the large intestine functioning come to a screeching halt....most people don’t have a problem with it, though. Many people find hair, nails and skin improvement with DE. Are there other benefits?
Colloidal silver or something else?
I will add your name.
Thank you! I cant wait to learn how to feel better!
Hi lj,
I’ve always felt that if you; eat right, don’t drink, don’t smoke, get lot’s of rest and exercise, yo get six more years in an old folks home.
I have become, “pre diabetic” so I cut back on pasta, taters and sweets. Will that give me more or better years..?
I just want good years, if I can figure that out I would consider it a win.
Live. Love. Laugh!
Thanks!
Massive core strengthening cured my severe and several physically caused back pain issues.
No surgery for me!
In most areas they are extremely prevalent. Bromine is everywhere, including most bread. It’s in carpets, fabrics, upholstery, etc. Flouride and Chlorine are everywhere too.
This is an important fact though: you will not ever be able to avoid these (or any other toxins) but the way you detox is by getting sufficient minerals from food and supplementing. That is what detoxes us.
one of the best things you can do to eliminate sugar cravings is take collagen at every meal. Collagen lowers our stress hormones which can cause sugar cravings when they’re high.
I have been amazed at the difference I’ve experienced by doing this. I no longer crave sugar at all.
Look at Trump - he never took any drugs, alcohol, smoked anything or even drank coffee. Gets up early, very regular habits. Picture of health and vigor. Also good genes, that helps tremendously.
But we can certainly utilize best what we are given by good health habits.
Sadly I had bad habits in the (long ago) past but going forward one can do better and feel better moderate aches, pains etc.
Very interesting, especially the part about aligning your bed so that your head faces East. Along those same lines, I’ve read about how important it is to have your bare feet touch the bare earth on a regular basis, something called “earthing.” It sounds like something far out there and overly “New Age” but wondered what your take on that is. I actually do go barefoot as much as I can and will walk miles on the beach in bare feet when I have the opportunity. It does seem to help me feel and sleep better.

Hmm, I have no carpets, upholstery, made my own curtains from muslin cotton, make all food from scratch, mostly organic ingredients. Maybe I’m not getting those things. I make my own tooth powder, don’t use any personal care products that have weird ingredients either.
Nano technology. Not colloidal.
Oh, nano. I want stuff I can make. We do make CS and use it externally.
you’re probably in a pretty good spot then. what we don’t get enough of is iodine even if you don’t have much exposure to the toxins. There’s an actual swath of America called the goiter belt because they get so little iodine (Midwest, mainly Michigan).
There is a Sadness also that comes with pure natural living.
You start to out live family and friends, watching ailments creep up on others.
A German monk whose name escapes me, I have in a book, was a doctor of some sort, IIRC late 19th century. He treated a lot of patients. One of his recommendations was walking barefoot on wet grass in the morning. I spent my entire childhood barefoot as soon as it was warm enough, I lived in the countryside. I go barefoot in the house. My feet are not crippled by shoes like many peoples’.
That brings up not wearing outside shoes in the house - stops filth on the floors. Carpets, another topic...
I gotta go but will be back Thursday.
