This guy should have been arrested for being a dumbass - besides that, he broke the law by smoking - if it had been anyone but a diplomat they probably would have at least spent the night in jail.
Just a friendly reminder that smoking on an airplane is a federal crime. Are Qatar diplomats immune?

Latest update: NBC reporting that the jerk was wearing sandals on which he tried to extinguish his illegal cigarette.
Thanks for the ping Cindy. I wasn’t online last night and have read just a few of the post this morning. If he was in the lav smoking a cigerette then why didn’t the smoke alarm go off? This has probably been discussed and I just haven’t read it yet.
Good question! I don’t fly any more so didn’t know they have smoke alams in there.
He’s a diplomat of course so no need to worry /sarc
Hmmm thats interesting - how do they know for sure its not bioterrorism in its infancy or test state?<<<
They don’t have to “know” anything, simply follow the script given to them by ? gov?
Shutting up, wouldn’t want to state my opinion in public...LOL
Oh Joy! I am flying to Denver on Saturday and then to So. America. <<<
Go, and don’t worry, there will be enough Freeper prayers to hold up at least three planes, for we love you and want you to be safe, as well as all the other passengers.
You are welcome.
You are so sweet. Thank you.
if it had been anyone but a diplomat<<<
And there you have it, shoving it in our face once again.
I heard on the radio a couple hours ago, that he had been released with no charges to be filed.
XOXOXO- LOL, my first thought was that was the code for cussing, but before that it meant hugs and kisses, so I send you hugs and kisses and cuss our ‘leaders’
Latest update: NBC reporting that the jerk was wearing sandals on which he tried to extinguish his illegal cigarette.<<<
So he is one of the kinky ones, likes to put cigarettes out on his ‘partner’...........shame the plane didn’t hit an air pocket and make his grind it out on his foot.
Are Qatar diplomats immune?<<<
This one is.
You deserve a fun trip.
Have enough fun for both of us and leave the praying to those of us who will be doing so.
Thanks, Ruth. It’s a business trip, but we hope to squeeze a little fun and some really great restaurants in. Argentina has great beef and excellent wines.

Good question.
Maybe he disabled the smoke detector and/or maybe it was malfunctioning.
I haven’t read anything online to adequately answer that question.

Amnesty International
Russia urged to investigate disappearance of Ingushetian teacher
9 April 2010
Amnesty International has called on Russia to effectively investigate
the fate of an Ingushetian teacher missing since 2003 after the European
Court of Human Rights found the country’s authorities responsible for
his disappearance in the territory.
The Court ruled on 1 April that the Russian state was to blame for the
enforced disappearance and possible death of Bashir Mutsolgov, following
a six-year fight for justice by his family.
snipped
Magomed Mutsolgov set up his own human rights organization, Mashr
(Peace), and over the last six years has collected information about 179
cases of abduction and enforced disappearance which have occurred since
2002.

Ingushetia is a republic of 500,000 people in the Russian Federation,
situated between Chechnya and North Ossetia.
