Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

Yes it does matter. There were/are laws governing this. It depends on which year you were born.

Obama was born in 1961 and the below was the law covering that year.

4. December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986
If, at the time of your birth, both your parents were U.S. citizens and at least one had a prior residence in the United States, you automatically acquired U.S. citizenship with no conditions for retaining it.

If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. There are no conditions placed on retaining this type of citizenship. If your one U.S. citizen parent is your father and you were born outside of marriage, the same rules apply if your father legally legitimated you before your 21st birthday and you were unmarried at the time. If legitimation occurred after November 14, 1986, your father must have established paternity prior to your 18th birthday, either by acknowledgment or by court order, and must have stated in writing that he would support you financially until your 18th birthday.

If by chance Barack Obama’s mother gave birth to him in Kenya she did not meet the 5 year residency in the U.S. after the age of 16 because she was 18 when she gave birth.

It is hard for me to phantom why there are so many posters who don’t see what is so obvious...forgery and fraud. I only thing that would sense to me is they don’t want to see the clinton trash back in the White House and I would be able sympathize with that but this whole controversy is about something more important than a forged document.

It is about the first time in the history of this country, it is possible for a candidate could be elected president from an UNKNOWN ORIGIN.

I suspicion it's not the place of birth he doesn't want seen... What was his name at birth? was it Barry Dunham - Why is the race of his mother listed as "Caucasian" but of his father "African"? "African" is not a race. People of all colors and races are born in Africa. What is it that the obamination doesn't want us to see?

Yes--it is the place of his birth he doesn't want you to see--because he was born in Kenya, not Hawaii.

And the birth records issue may be more complicated than that. There may be a record; but it discloses facts that make it clear he wasn't born in Hawaii.

I have not been reading post about the birth certificate until this post, but is it not law that a presidential candidate be born on US soil or one of its territories....wasn't there talk about McCain not being eligible for this very reason?

Sure, there's been talk, but your understanding of the law is incorrect. You have to be a "natural born citizen" which can either be accomplished by place of birth or by the citizenship of your parents.

The place of your birth is not determinative if it's outside the US.

These threads will get interesting when they actually start to allege that Obama WASN'T born in Hawaii and offer proof of where he was born.

But it still wouldn't matter because he's a natural born citizen because of his mother.

The fake birth certificate at KOS is interesting, but it's not really even relevant.

Ah. For a moment I thought you meant "why would someone lie to become the most powerful individual on earth?"

Most likely it wasn't because he's a bastard. A goodly fraction of the electorate has never met the guy who knocked up their mom. Mostly no one else cares either. We do care what kind of bastard a guy is, but not so much the marital status of his parents.

That makes the most likely explanation that his real Certificate of Live Birth would unquestionably show he cannot hold the office of president.

So I don't know why they did this dumb and ham handed thing.

The same reason those guys put g-strings on their heads to rob that store last week. They figured that with just a little cover they could get away with it.

So I read the whole article looking for the spot that says somebody had admitted forging the document. It turns out he had created other, similar forgeries, but not that document.

I read it the same way. Like the Sinclair story, people are trying to keep this one alive with regular "new" releases with no actual "new" information.

For submitting the fraudulent BC in the first place. BTW, he only submitted the fake after intense speculation that he was not native-born starting more than a month ago. What most of us are shocked at is that he gave us ammo releasing that fake BC!
