I ate 700 eggs in a month as an experiment - what happened to my health went against everything I'd been told
Daily Mail ^ | 24 September 2024 | Luke Andrews

Nick Norwitz, a doctorate student at Harvard University, found that contrary to the beliefs of many experts, his cholesterol levels actually dropped. After the month-long experiment that saw him eat the equivalent of 24 eggs per day his low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels, or 'bad' cholesterol, fell by 18 percent.

Experts have demonized cholesterol in eggs for decades, warning that eating them may cause a surge in LDL levels and raise the risk of complications.

Dr Norwitz has a PhD in human brain metabolism from the University of Oxford and is completing his medical doctorate at Harvard University.

A sausage & egg McMuffin is $1.00 here at most McDonald’s

I’m okay with skipping the cheese, or adding a slice from my fridge.

The muffin, egg, and electricity/gas to toast/scramble the egg in total will cost me more than $1.00.

Pure myth, salt is needed for the body.

No question. Consuming a good salt vs table salt does make a difference. Salt definitely causes the blood pressure to rise. Like I said, I know this from decades of personal experience. Celtic sea salt doesn't affect 'me' nearly as much as table salt.

My understanding is you should have a HIGH HDL...not low...and a Low LDL. I have been thru extensive heart tests over the years...doc finally said..”sometimes we just do not know” to heart/chest issues. (I have High HDL and low LDL ...with large LDL particle size which is good.)

We have egg day Wednesdays and Saturdays. Yea, anything more would be too much. He did it for science, I appreciate the effort, and I too am surprised by the results.

Believe what you want. Plenty of studies show salt does not affect BP.

Large eggs are less 25 cents each in my area.

That’s only $6 a day.

8 eggs will supply a typical person’s daily protein requirement. At only $2.

It takes about 1/2 pound of beef to satisfy a person’s daily protein requirement.

Ground beef is $7.50 a pound in my area. Steak is not even in the same ballpark.

Despite their recent rise in price, eggs are still one of the cheapest sources of protein. Plus, they are full of other vitamins and minerals.

You don't list a state flag on your profile so nobody knows what "area" you are referring to. Eggs are @.75 in my area for cage free brown eggs (but not organic). Which is almost double when Trump was in office. Inflation is another tax Congress has instituted on the people through out of control spending on frivolous activities.

Dietary cholesterol has ZERO impact on blood cholesterol, because...

Your body makes cholesterol.

If you didn’t eat any cholesterol whatsoever, your body would make it.

If you eat a lot of cholesterol, you body reduces its production of cholesterol.

The analogy is your body temperature.

Your body wants to keep your temperature at a specific level. If you get too cold, your body starts producing more body heat, and encourages you to move to produce heat (that’s why cold people get fidgety and shiver). If your body becomes too hot, your body takes steps to lower your temperature. You sweat and become lethargic (that’s why overheated people become sleepy).

The same is true of cholesterol. Your body wants to keep it at a specific level. If you don’t have enough, your body starts producing it. If you have too much, your body stops producing it and starts excreting it into the bowls (where it is later pooped out).

If you eat too much cholesterol, the excess ends up going out your rectum in your poop. It does not stay in your blood stream.

In simpler terms, cholesterol is the band-aid the body puts over inflammation to allow it to heal.

In the normal process, the cholesterol is removed and disposed of when the area has healed.

But what goes wrong in modern humans is the have developed two types of cholesterol: big-fluffy cholesterol and small-dense cholesterol.

The small-dense cholesterol actually works its way under the first layer of cells in the artery walls and gets stuck. Thus crating a blockage.

The large-fluffy type does not work its way under the first layer of cells, does not get stuck, and thus does not create a blockage.

Eating a diet high in carbs & sugar creates small-dense LDL.

Eating a diet high in fat creates large-fluffy LDL.

The standard advice to eat a low-fat/high-carb diet is literally the primary cause of heat blockages.

The theory behind lowering salt to reduce blood pressure is: Blood pressure is lower when people are dehydrated.

They are saying you should live your life dehydrated to keep your blood pressure down.

Dehydration has its own set of problems. There has to be a better solution.

High cholesterol levels are associated with longevity in older women.

The big pharma campaigns to get women to take statins should be a crime. There’s no evidence whatsoever that women benefit from statins.

BTW, did you know that statins, even in men, increase your mortality rate. Yep. Nobody disputes it.

It might lower a males risk of a heat attack. But, it raises your risk of dying from a myriad of other things and (statistically) they shorten your life.

Our medical community is so focused on heart attacks because “#1 killer of men” that they’ve lost sight of the bigger picture. There’s not much benefit of lower your risk of a heart attack if it means you will die younger from something else. But, that’s what we’re doing.
