For this study, the researchers collected data on craniofacial morphology from the published literature. This ultimately resulted in a data set including 13 Neandertals, 233 prehistoric Homo sapiens, and 83 modern humans.
The researchers focused on standard craniofacial measurements, which are reproducible, and used those measurements to assess the size and shape of key facial structures. This then allowed the researchers to do an in-depth analysis to determine whether a given human population was likely to have interbred with Neandertal populations, as well as the extent of that likely interbreeding.

If we can interbreed…. We are the same species.
Is that Fetterman?
“We know there was interbreeding. Modern Asian populations seem to have more Neandertal DNA than modern European populations, which is weird—because Neandertals lived in what is now Europe.”
SOME Neanderthals lived in Europe. They also lived in the fertile crescent, which is exactly where you would have to pass through if you were migrating via land from Africa to Asia. Who writes this crap?
Interbreeding as in dating, or as in rape-rape?
Now, there were some that I should have requested a DNA profile...

The CCP would be most pleased if you’d send it in, since they do all the matching for the American companies.
Could be, since the original image had a man bun - before some one chopped it off.
I thought we got rid of the term ‘Neandertals’, and returned to Neanderthals.
What the H is going on here?
“Interbreeding as in dating, or as in rape-rape?”
More like forming acquaintances a million or so years before Edison invented the light bulb.
Not going to make the unladylike comment that is racing around my brain. Y’all will just have to wonder.

Genesis 25:24 When her days to give birth were completed, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25 The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau. 27 When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents
"The Natufian culture refers to most hunter-gatherers who lived in modern-day Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria approximately 11,500 to 15,000 years ago. They were among the first people to build permanent houses and cultivate edible plants. The advancements they achieved are believed to have been crucial to the development of agriculture during the time periods that followed them."
they mention interbreeding like the females had a choice.....
Thanks for posting this-it torches the belief popular until a few decades ago that those mean old prehistoric Homo Sapiens/Modern humans killed and replaced the poor Neanderthals. Like it or not-that didn’t happen and they are us/we are them-apparently, prehistoric people liked to trade and breed with exotic foreigners when they got the chance-we still do.
Shouldn’t Neanderthals be just another race of human, rather than a separate species? There are people-business owners, neighbors, etc out here who look a lot like those two Neanderthals pictured-there is a concrete contractor I’ve worked with who looks like the guy, wide face and all-he has a Slavic-sounding last name-and he is definitely human...
Doubt Neanderthals were a different species. They actually look like my husband’s great uncles: Huge foreheads and barrel skulls.
Laz would hit it.
If those people were anything like the tribes/groups we have some history on not long after-that probably depended on the status of that female’s family in the group/tribe-if they were leaders/had lots of stuff to trade, then a man would probably have to take her into his home/tribe and maybe pay in goods-or no sex. If she was just from a family of no influence, the guy might just tumble her in the bushes with or without permission...
Either way it happened, I doubt that mutual attraction was involved most of the time-not fun to be a female...
Dogs, wolves and coyotes interbreed and produce fertile offspring.
“ This helps to explain Jerry Nadler.”
Nothing, NOTHING explains Jerry Nadler.
They probably did. Not in all cases of course but in most.
Based on the anatomy studied so far the average Neanderthal would have competed well with today’s Olympic weightlifters and probably would have won the shot put competition. The adhesion scars on the bones suggest huge muscles.
