Ok, so today I ordered meals from 4Patriots (33 days supply) and freeze dried beef (19 separate servings) in anticipation of severe food shortages being predicted.
I really hope I don't have to use them, but I'll have them just in case.
My question is, does anyone have any recommendations or specific companies you've used to order the same type of thing?
If so, did you like them?
The Mormons take keeping a year’s supply on hand very seriously. They used to have centers where you could buy things in bulk, probably still do (you don’t have to be Mormon to shop there.)
They might have some good information.
Also as a supplemental, get a vacuum food processor and put away bulk rice and/or pinto beans (1 to 2 cups per “bag”). These can have a long shelf life. Even longer if you toss in an oxygen absorber and keep in a cool place.

My Dad has always been a Prepper. I’m kind of sad he died before TSHTF big time because he would’ve LOVED it - and he would’ve taken care of anyone else that needed his help, too.
That said, I ‘inherited’ his stash of prepping supplies, and a lot of it was that canned food. All of it was dehydrated. I’ve used some of it. I’m holding on to the beans, rice and powdered milk. There were no powdered eggs, but I ate PLENTY of those in the Army, so...PASS! ;)
If you’re starving, it’s better than nothing. If not, Meh.
Better alternative than Stabil is "Sea Foam". Problem with Stabil is, it creates a 'seal' over the fuel, but once disturbed/moved, the seal is broken and does not reseal. And then its useless. So HUGE fuel storage units and devices that are not moved, fine. Move the lawnmower mid winter, NOT fine. Sea Foam is a diff. approach in that it mixes with the fuel. So its not effected by any sealing method.
I had a bitch of a time with a touchy Honda power washer. Once on Sea Foam, no more problems. A guy I know who repairs engines as his business, 100% concurs.

Just buy beans and rice, then vacuum pack them and store at room temperature out of the light and you have the same thing, but cheaper. Plus you determine the portion size.
I’ve just been collecting cans and I’ve got a few 50 lbs of rice (some rather old, 2013) and some beans (a few 25 lbs) and lots of seasoning to spice em up. I’ve got some freezedried food but only a few tubs. I figure me and the missus can last about 5-6 months on my reserves. If we add to the menu what exists and is out there during the food crisis, I figure, what, a year maybe?
Start watching shows like The Walking Dead and Z Nation. They have lots of tips on surviving in resource-scarce conditions.

Freeze dried food says on the package that it’s only good for a certain amount of time. Hm. Some of the stuff I have - it’s years old - stays good for an indefinite period of time until it’s been opened. Then it will only last so long, but note that I have some that’s been opened (freeze dried spaghetti with meat sauce) for quite a while and I note no ill effects from eating it. (Although I’m not crazy about it, either. On the other hand I’m pretty sure it would taste like the best thing ever if I had not eaten anything with meat in it for a couple of months.)
Canned food: I tell Mr K (not the one on this forum) that when he’s buying soup or canned veggies/fruit that he should every other time or so by a can of something that neither of us will enthusiastically eat. These canned goods are set by for hard times. I’m still not tempted to eat them (canned peas for example: frozen ones are WAY better) so that’s a good sign.
I like to buy non perishable paper goods in bulk, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and paper plates and baggies.
They take up a lot of room in a regular shop so I go to Walmart and pack a cart with all these and I’m good for months.
The food is designed to keep you alive. That’s about it. Try living on C-rations for a few months. Lol. You might prefer death.

Eggs are marketed differently in the UK. The outer membrane isn’t removed like in the US. So their eggs don’t have to be refrigerated. Saw this in a video a few months ago.
Just filter out the fiber, hehe.
