Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

-00!

My goal is to have a school schedule by the end of the day Sunday, and then we’ll have a week to see whether it works before Kathleen and I go to Florida and the bros do nothing for a week.

Thanks! It was just hanging there, waiting for ArGee...

Mona and I left in what my FS calls a “toad chokin’” rain, and it hasn’t quit, since.

Since FS didn’t bring me any masking or blue tape, it came to me that I could probably use paper adhesive tape for the dead bolt, so I don’t have to worry about muscle spasms ruining a paint job. I’ll wait until tomorrow or the next day to see if the rain quits long enough for me to paint the door. I really want to get it done.

Forecast says about 15% chance for tomorrow and about 6% chance for Friday, so I’ll try for Friday.

And I continue to pull for the Princess.

Just for the record, the Princess is very good at pulling. She's pretty good about staying by our side when we're walking around home, but when we go somewhere new, she turns into a sled dog.

It seems like it does nothing but rain there. I went to bed with Jake for a while, but the kids were loud, so I came back. Turkeys.

I’m working on a casserole now, using heaps of sausage I found in the outside freezer. The other person likes to go to Costco and just buy whatever, unnngh.

Yes, it rains 53”+ a year here, so even if its not raining, it’s usually overcast and always humid. That’s not good for this desert girl’s bones, and that’s a fact!

I just got called over to the office to produce bank statements. Unngh. Since I changed pharmacies, I have to provide new prescription cost information. Unngh. Tiny houses look better and better. Just someplace to call my own.

Oh, my gosh! I found some tasty sausage but unfortunately, it’s at Sheryl’s Diner. It’s been so long since I set foot in Walmart, I have no idea what they have any more. Just what I can order online.

Maybe my mom was right. Clean your house and the world will become organized. For about three hours. When the clan arrives back at five the house will be dirty again.

That's Entropy man.

Hopefully he will now be able to buy his own hair care products. :)

Good luck to The Hair! (and James too)

A church I attended in Texas had a guy give a talk on how he lived with such a small monthly budget. He wasn’t a poor guy, but he liked to keep things cheap.

One of his tricks was to only buy things that were on sale or that he had a coupon for. Then they made whatever they could figure out how to make from whatever they had in the fridge. He said they had some awfully strange sandwiches at the end of a shopping week.

He also said there were some days when, after the register finished counting coupons, he could pay for the food for his large family with a $10. His goal was that they would owe him money.

So, for what it’s worth, it’s apparently a lifestyle.

As Joan Rivers used to say, “I hate housework. It’s so repetitive. You make the bed, you wash the dishes, 6-months later you just have to do it again.”

One of my neighbors is a “super couponer,” buying large amounts of whatever she can get for almost nothing. She has a garage sale once a month to turn the goods back into cash.

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!

99 bottles of kitteh on the wall
99 bottles of kitteh

We did get some rain last night. It was a little warmer this morning. It’s still not feeling like August. Not that I’m complaining.

It’s a little cooler here this morning than some previous days, but no rain. I need to water my beets!

A kitteh in a drink carrier! Way cool!

Good morning, finally.

I hope you had a good night with no cats.

I managed to sleep 12 hours and I feel better this morning than I have in a long time. What that means is not that the relapse is over, but that it is on its way. It may be another month before I can count it as a bad memory, but the important thing is for me not to overdo things right now, when I feel so good for the first time in a long time.

I want to paint the door today, but I’ll save that for tomorrow, which is supposed to be a much better day than today.
