This is the amazing design for NASA’s Star Trek-style space ship, the IXS Enterprise

NASA engineer and physicist Harold White announced a few years ago that he was working on a potentially groundbreaking idea that could allow space travel faster than the speed of light. Yes, like in Star Trek. And now, to boldly go where no designer has gone before, Mark Rademaker who is collaborating with White has created a CGI design concept for the warp ship. Theyre calling it the IXS Enterprise.
We wanted to have a decent image of a theory conforming Warp ship to motivate young people to pursue a STEM career, Rademaker said in an e-mail interview. It does have some Sci-Fi features that might never transfer to a possible final design, unless we really want to.

I like space quite a lot. But I have to say:
We have no space program.
We have no shuttle.
We have no space station.
We can’t go to the moon.
If we were to dream, then dreaming of going to the moon and harvesting resources and (perhaps) building colonies might be somewhat reasonable.
Dreaming about warp drives and interstellar travel?
Ain’t nobody got time for dat.

We’ll never build anything remotely like it as long as this country is run by Democrats. Third world countries don’t make it to space in any big way.

Concept pic is AWESOME.

It’s not a design if the technology to build it doesn’t exist.

Right, and we can’t even put a man into low earth orbit now.

Why design something you know nothing about how to make it work? Because that is all NASA does now, science fiction, global warming, and muslim outreach.

Does it reach out to make friends with the Moslems? That’s NASAs most important job.

But we are the best hitchhikers ever.
Cash on the nail for those who have the vision to have a space program.

Yeah, while they are at it, why not design a “way back” machine. Actually the most unbelievable thing on “Star Trek” to me was the transporter.
I still liked the show but it was really a fantasy.
