Dogs align themselves with Earth’s magnetic field when it comes time to poop
UPI ^

Dogs have been found to be sensitive to Earth's magnetic field, and apparently align themselves along the magnetic north-south axis before they defecate. Czech and German researchers studied 70 dogs during 1,893 defecations and 5,582 urinations over the course of two years, and found that when the Earth's magnetic field was stable the dogs chose to align themselves with it. When it was unstable, such as during a solar flare, the dogs would become confused.

The idiots probably have a fenced in yard that is set up exactly as the street outside, which in turn runs either due N/S or E/W knowing the Germans.

Even big fields have tree lines around them usually running that way, and this more than anything is what probably aligns the dogs. I’ve got to see where this experiment took place before I believed it.

Just watches my littermates this morning, one started facing north and was facing south (turning counterclockwise) when complete. The other started facing west and finished facing northeast (turning clockwise). Can I get some of that study money?

Mine has to go through something akin to the Hokey Pokey before deciding, then changing his mind, then going through it all again.

He must go at least 1/2 acre away from the house before even thinking about doing business.

Isn’t it the truth? DH was telling me, this morning, about some article on how the government wastes money. Our Congress has too much time- & (access to) money, on it’s hands.

Responding to your 2014 comment regarding the bathtub and bridge card games. Interesting! From the interwebs:

“There are bridge superstitions – luck is with those who sit with the tub – that is, when you are playing bridge in someone’s home, you get better cards if you are parallel with the bathtub in the house. But what if there is more than one bathtub and they are cross-wise with one another?

Sex on the same day as bridge brings one bad lucky: lucky in love, not so much in cards. Perhaps if one’s relationship is going well, she will not mind not “scoring” at bridge. I would not presume to say one way or the other.”
