Dogs have been found to be sensitive to Earth's magnetic field, and apparently align themselves along the magnetic north-south axis before they defecate. Czech and German researchers studied 70 dogs during 1,893 defecations and 5,582 urinations over the course of two years, and found that when the Earth's magnetic field was stable the dogs chose to align themselves with it. When it was unstable, such as during a solar flare, the dogs would become confused.

It’d be C-17’s now as they are phasing out the C-5’s here.
And C-130’s, we’d have to worry about them.
Don’t want a herky bird bouncing through the fields like some deranged video game mod.
They’re just sooo worthy. And cuddly. And cute.
ro, One of my little guys (the spinner) is just poop obsessed. I swear he can poop at will, just because he’s wanting a snack (AARRGGHH!!) We had better be right behind him & quick. Sometimes he pulls the ‘double deuce’ while we’re emptying the scooper. Drives me crazy.
Our first little Eskie & Mia will kind of leap away like “*I* didn’t do that!” MiaMu does like to sniff after the boys, though. She’s so dainty lol I just don’t get it.
Mine back up to the fence like they’re trying to crap in the neighbor’s yard.
The fence runs north/south.
Not sure if that is significant.
You probably live right over a geologic vortex.
[or somethin’]
;]
That sounds scary!
If I happen to see it, I’ll try to note the direction, but I ain’t looking for it on purpose
Tie a rope around your waist and a porch post when you go out.
You’ll be fine.
:)
Nope. Dogs in Manhattan follow the grid
We're trying to justify a grant to study this further since Darksheare found some flaws in the original... ;-)
So far Johnny has a big electromagnet thing, I donated the use of the farm behind the barn, Darksheare is going to apply for the grant..
All we need now is a dog (with handler of course) to, um, study... with suitable compensation of course.. and we know you have one. Dog that is. We're not sure if you have handles. But it's close enough for the purposes of the research.
And when we have concluded the project (which will be shortly after we find that the grant will not be renewed for the next fiscal year) we will need to hire a writer and staff to author the publication of our research. We will be open to suggested applicants at that time.
lol
good luck!
>>> (Someone I know calls it s#!+ and spin)
Do only males do this? My 3 boys, do, but my 4 girls never have.
Now that you’ve asked & I’m thinking about it, only one of my two (both females) does this: the black lab.
The other, a boxer mix, has a sense of modesty in simply prefering that I not watch. She also dislikes rain on her face & will only pee if she thinks she can hold her bowels until the rain stops. Funny critter, my Olive.
LOL They are funny. Little individual 4 legged “people”. Critters are the best entertainment there is. Olive is a precious name for a Boxer.
;-)
You honestly have to admit that our project is no nuttier than most of the stuff the Oblumba administration spends money on.. And just think of the jobs it would create... ;-)
I agree with that
If you and your dog are ever lost in the woods, or at sea... you have a poop compass to help you navigate.
That is the absolute truth. The worse the weather the longer they take.
Thank God, I thought I was the only one that didn't get it.
Can’t believe I read 138 comments about poochie-poops. LOL
PS...it’s a scientific fact that cats will leave a barfpile wherever you are most likely to step in it while walking barefoot in a dark house. Same thing with kids leaving LEGOS on the floor.
Mine doesn’t align herself with any magnetic field, but she does align herself with me......making sure I can see her butt and looking over her shoulder to make sure I’m watching her poop.
I guess I have a perverted dog.
