So what are your plans for Increase your BMI day? I am hosting for the 1st time ever. So do you take the turkey out of the bag before you put it in the microwave?
Just kidding :-}

My husband and one son are running a 5K in the morning, while the rest of us sleep late, and then we'll finish cooking. We put the turkey in the portable roaster oven, so we have the regular oven for other stuff.
Some years we have guests, but everyone we asked had other plans this year. Means I can wear a sweatsuit without feeling like a slob :-).
How many people are you having over?

I'm on my second week of being back on a weight training program. I've tightened up my belt a notch, my clothes already seem to fit a bit better, but I haven't lost a pound.
Turkey Day ain't gonna help much either.

Have good travels.
We had our Thanksgiving in October.
How do you guys celebrate?
Which days do you have off, and which day do you usually eat your turkey?

We eat the turkey on Thursday, and that's the only day most businesses are closed. Some businesses are open, and some places (like the public library!) give themselves three or four days off.

So you have to go back to work on Friday and Monday?
Our Thanksgiving is always on a Monday, so it becomes a long weekend.
Some eat the bird on Sunday, in order to recover on the Monday.

I've cut WAY back on carbs and other starches. Veggies and meat for the most part. Lots of water and green tea.
My weight has been stable for a while now. I'm still about 40lbs over what my ultimate target weight it. But, I'm also giving myself a full year to hit it.
2 weeks in is a bit pre-mature to think things are going smoothly. My metabolism can shift gears on a dime and give a nickle change.

Many people take the Friday off if they can, so they have Thursday-Sunday. I used to work the Friday after Thanksgiving, when I was employed, because almost nobody else was there, and I could either get a lot of work done, or read the newspaper and answer the phone occasionally, depending on the workload at the time.

LOL.
No doubt the nickle ends up in some undesired place!
I'm back on 'the diet', as I call it.
No carbs or sugar.

Trick is balance. Cannot do it on diet cannot do it on exercise alone. Got to be a mix of the two. Got to include some muscle building (I lift weights) with the carido. But the carido can be fun stuff like bike riding or rollerblading. The "Do" advertising campaign is spot on. Especially as you get older you got to DO. Unfornately for me my Free Republic additiction is serious cutting into my DO time.

Thanksgiving day is Thursday, last Thursday in Nov. If I remember correctly. Usually time for family gatherings and eating too much. Then we watch foot ball or play cards or whatever. On Friday those who don't work go shopping. Friday after Thanksgiving is the official start of the Christmas shopping season when most retailers open early have has some sort of giveaway gimmick to attract the early birds.
