Hi all. Hope everyone is having a nice day.
WHEN I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has gleand my teeming brain,
Before high piled books, in charactry,
Hold like rich garners the full-ripend grain;
When I behold, upon the nights starrd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love!then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till Love and Fame to nothingness do sink.

The Power of the Dog
There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find--it's your own affair--
But...you've given your heart for a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!);
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart for the dog to tear.
We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long--
So why in Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Rudyard Kipling

Hiya Kuds, I've been out most the day, but I posted earlier. I was hoping FR would be working by now.
Oh well, I have no problem posting, but I bet there are quite a few that can't. Hopefully, it should be alright tomorrow.

Happy FRiday, FRiends! What a wierd Thursday. I hope everyone can find FR today and check in. I overslept yesterday and didn't get online until I got to work. Then, I saw the ominous message that FR's server didn't exist or somesuch! I was afraid I'd been busted for "FReeping on Duty" and my boss had blocked internet access to FR! Whew! Glad to know that wasn't the case! (removing tin foil hat now...)
TODAY is Robert Frost's birthday. So, in his honor - a poem!

Robert Frost
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Chris loved that poem. I was just thinking of it the other day...
No more miles to ge before sleep for my Christopher.
On the other hand, I'm getting tired (10.30pm here) and have to be up early tomorrow to campaign for a friend of a friend who's running for mayor in the elections tomorrow... so goodnight, all.

I'm not always political.
Rising Setting
I sit and watch the rising sun,
It's over in the east.
I did not watch the rising dough,
They say it is the yeast.
But both do rise I know for sure,
The sun sets in the west.
The rolls I eat with butter thick,
And honey tastes the best.
I like the sun I like the rolls,
But rolls are best to eat.
The sun would burn if close I got,
At night I'd beat the heat.
