Re: #130 - I took that picture with a Kodak DC290 digital on a drilling rig down by Riveria, TX.

I printed it out with my photo printer on photo paper and gave the hands a copy for a Christmas present four years ago.
That picture is gracing the walls of some oil company offices in Houston.

That old song says, "...It would take, I know, a Michelangelo..."
No, it takes God to make something that pretty!

Val, I don't know where you live in Texas, but there's art exhibits in Houston on a regular basis.
I would think that would be the place.

You've got some really beautiful pictures!
I'd like to see a whole wall of your pictures of Texas!
MAN! BREATHTAKING!

Sorry to hear about your headache problem. With the CAT scan, they were looking for any indication of circulatory impairment, but the problem could be too miniscule to show on that scale.

Basically, you need nanometer scale medical procedures, which haven't been developed yet. So I offer the second best thing, herbal treatment.

The reference work is Left For Dead, I can't fully recall the Author's last name, only that his first name was Dick. His story was that triple bypass didn't do him much good, so he looked for alternative treatment. He found it in Cayenne Pepper, sometimes labelled Capsicum, and available in capsule form.

He suggested that capsicum acts like a roto-rooter in your circulatory system, clearing the accumulation that impedes the flow of blood. My wife claims that she can tell when she needs to take more of it by her sensitivity to restricted blood flow.

I can't tell for sure whether it's helping me, because I don't forget to take it for days at a time like her. I take two capsules daily, and along with vitamins E and C I think it is the minimum that anyone approaching middle age should do.

The biggest advantage to herbal and vitamin therapy is that they are unlikely to do any harm, as long as you don't get extreme with them. The biggest disadvantage is that they are slow acting, taking weeks to do what "miracle drugs" are supposed to do in hours. But if your problem is persistent, you'll have time to wait for the effect to happen.

Worst case, unless you have an extremely sensitive stomach, is that you'll only get better general circulation and a reduced likelihood of heart attack. And capsicum is cheap, about three bucks for a two-month supply. What's to lose?

~The Swans ~

Gliding unhurried o'er glossy calm lake,
Her six little cygnets close in her wake,
The Queen of the Water with regal disdain
Silently paddles around her domain ;
With careless abandon she fluffs up her gown
Of pristine white feathers and softest of down...
Then with hardly a glance at the noisy brown teal
She sails on majestically.. flicking her tail.

There isn't another nearby to compare
To her stately progression and unhurried air;
The frog on the lilypad hastily dives
To escape the notice of her piercing eyes -
When she makes a full curtsey exposing her tail
And emerges again with a dead water snail.

Her retinue follow - all bobbing below -
Then grandly once more in procession they go.
I could watch them forever as silently they
Float over the water the rest of the day...
But the blue of the sky makes the water shine bright
And in mirrored reflection they swim out of sight.

"the pics of me are a distraction."

Well, I gotta admit, it distracted me !

I rarely look at profile pages.
I can see that I need to start, though!

Today is International American's Birthday so I put this little tribute together for him. Luckily I had a picture of him too!

Look Who’s Fifty

It’s nifty, nifty, look who’s fifty,
I sure do hate that line.
Or Lordy, lordy, look who’s forty,
I’d never claim as mine.
One’s Birthday should be something special,
Let’s treat them with respect.
With Reverence and somber thoughts,
All joking is suspect.
International American,
Turned fifty just today.
So bow your heads and say a prayer,
Our help we must display.
He is so old and running down too,
I know he has no fun.
Please help him Dear Lord to eat and breath,
Next year he’s fifty-one.

Happy Birthday Geezer

Facing My Fears

Read: Psalm 138

In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul. —Psalm 138:3

Bible In One Year: Joshua 13-15; Luke 1:57-80

After Bill and I married, I became overly dependent on him, rather than depending on God for my security and strength. Feeling very inadequate and fearful, secretly I worried, "What if one day I don't have Bill anymore?"

When our missionary work took Bill from home for weeks at a time, I began to depend on myself instead of Bill. Feeling even more inadequate, I reduced the risks of life whenever possible and lived within a cocoon of anxiety, even being afraid to go out in public.

Finally, at rock bottom, I followed David's example in Psalm 138:3. He said, "In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul." I too cried out and God answered me. His answer gave me the understanding and strength to crack open the cocoon of fear and begin spreading my wings in dependence on God. Slowly but surely He made me a bold servant at Bill's side.

Years later, when Bill died, I recognized how compassionately God had dealt with my earlier fear: "What if one day I don't have Bill anymore?" Instead of removing my fear, God gave me the strength and ability to face it. And He will enable you as you depend on Him. —Joanie Yoder

I know not, but God knows;
Oh, blessed rest from fear!
All my unfolding days
To Him are plain and clear. —Flint

To conquer your fears, surrender them to the Lord.
