The Cheonan Crisis?

I have a short piece at Guardian: Comment is Free on the sinking of the Cheonan:

If the sinking of Cheonan was intentional, it creates a serious crisis for the Koreas’ neighbours and for the United States. None of the US, Japan, or China desire the threat of major military action on the Korean Peninsula. The US, still embroiled in Iraq and Afghanistan, doesn’t want another military confrontation on its plate. At the same time, it will be difficult for the US to restrain South Korea from some form of retaliation. Japan’s patience with North Korea has similarly run thin, and it is unlikely that Tokyo could be relied on too heavily as a voice of caution. Beijing has only limited affection for its North Korean client, but certainly does not want war, or even the threat of war. North Korea’s intentions remain mysterious; if it intended to signal its toughness and resolve to South Korea, it may have bitten off more than it can chew.

Suspect arrested in Carnival cruise ship bomb threat (FL)

2 P.M. — A suspect has been arrested by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office after a bomb hoax detained a Carnival Cruise Lines ship for hours this morning outside Port Canaveral, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.

A bomb threat was reported aboard the Carnival Sensation about 4 or 4:30 this morning, Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Evanson said.

The ship was detained about 4 miles offshore, Evanson said. About 3,470 passengers and crew members were on board, returning to Florida from Nassau in the Bahamas.

The suspect is Khalil Ibrahim Zarou, 31, of Leesburg, Va., jail officials said. He was charged with false report about planting a bomb.....

I received this picture from a friend in Israel last week. It’s a captured “garbage truck” from Gaza. The picture made all the papers in Israel. I believe it’s legitimate and not a fraud.

The truck is set up to fire Kasem rockets and then drive off innocently. The note pasted on the driver’s door says “ In case of traffic violations, please contact The Palestinian Authority.”

The Israelis have evidence of ambulances and emergency vehicles “customized” in similar fashion.

I suspect today’s bombs were the vest type, for the breast would not be big enough....my guess.

I just posted several links from Jeffrey Imm for related to the bombings, above this post.

This bombing will give Russia the publicity they needed for another harder war against Chechnya, for they blame them all on Chechnya, and we will never know the true source of the bombers.

Russia has also labeled Georgia as supporting terrorists, so they have a choice of countries to blame, all of them countries who do not want to be Russian owned....

LOL, yes, I am still suspicious of anything Russia says.
