Sharif Mobley, 26, is being held in a jail in Yemen after he allegedly killed a police guard and seriously injured another during a shootout at a hospital on Monday.

The Buena, N.J. native has also been accused of taking part in several acts of terrorism, Yemini officials say. He also purportedly has ties to the same branch of al-Qaeda who are suspected of attempting to blow up a U.S. airliner on its way to Detroit on Christmas.”

Nuclear plant supervisor found dead (India)

The supervisor of the Rawatbhata Nuclear plant in Kota was found dead on Thursday (March 11). His body was recovered from his service quarters. Plant authorities got suspicious after the supervisor did not report for duty for two consecutive days and broke open his quarters. The cause of death is not clear and police are investigating the matter.

TSA worker tried to sabotage terror database, feds say
11th March 2010

A former data analyst for the US Transportation Security Agency has been accused of trying to sabotage a terrorist screening database used to vet people with access to sensitive information and secure areas of the nation’s transportation network.

46-year-old Douglas James Duchak, who worked as a TSA contractor for five years, planted the malicious code in the server used to maintain the database in mid October, a week after he was told his employment would be terminated at the end of the month, according to documents filed in US District Court in Colorado.

The indictment, unsealed Monday, charges that Colleen R. LaRose, and five unindicted co-conspirators recruited men on the Internet to wage violent jihad in South Asia and Europe, and recruited women on the Internet who had passports and the ability to travel to and around Europe in support of violent jihad.

A long-running legal battle between the United States government and a group of 29 scientists and engineers of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, has now reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 2007, the employees filed suit against NASA, which owns JPL’s infrastructure; California Institute of Technology, which manages the lab; and the Department of Commerce over a government rule requiring all workers at federal facilities to obtain a new mandatory I.D. for which they needed to subject themselves to a background check. The employees argued that the requirement, which stemmed from a 2004 Homeland Security Presidential Directive issued by George W. Bush, was a violation of privacy and would constrict the open and free environment that had drawn them to work at JPL.
