Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

I think that's a fair summary. For number 2, I'm just concerned about the possible future precedent of reliance on web facsimiles of parts of documents, rather than the actual physical thing itself, especially for something as important as the presidency of the United States.

Even with the forged Texas Air National Guard documents, CBS "experts" complained that they were only shown images of the documents, but never the actual documents themselves, and so were reluctant to authenticate them.

Have we learned nothing from that?

Yes, that's true and it's sad to look at them. My Father's family was in Poland then.

That photo is scary to look at, the funny thing is that if it were a current photo of a crowd there would be immediate howls of “photoshop” - can't be real!!

I don't think they even send you a letter. It is your responsibility to register. You can do it online. Also most people get Social Security Numbers when they are born now.

I recently saw a video of Ann's friend (can't remember name) from Mercer Island and she said Ann came to visit when Obama was three weeks old.

To be absolutely clear, I can't prove that the COLB is forged, but I question the authenticity of the presented document. Throughout all of this, Kos and Smears have only shown one side of the document. Why?

You'd think that if they had a real document in their possession, they'd scan and show both sides, if only to clearly present the embossing seal and signature block. If they didn't think of it at the time they received the front, since they had access to the front, they could request access to the back, too, if one really existed. None has been presented so far.

Throw all the circumstantial "accurate data but questionable form" evidence at me, but until I see someone of authority authenticates a physical document for all to see, I refuse to accept this web facsimile of part of a supposed government document (with the government issued certificate number blacked out) as if it were the real thing, for any purpose.

Backing up a few hundred posts where I mention my own COLB (not Hawaii), on the backside, near the bottom are pre-printed numbers in red. All the COLB forms for our family members that were requested from the county have a sequential number imprinted on the back, while the front has its unique engraved pattern, similiar to the grey/white engraving on an old $1 bill.

Wonder if Hawaii's paper stock has that sequential numbering system. ???

I didn’t happen to look on the back of mine so I don’t know if it has a number on the back side or not. I will have to look one of these days.
