Former House sergeant-at-arms Paul Irving told senators he did not hear from Sund until 1:28 p.m. and that no formal request for National Guard assistance was lodged until after 2 p.m. Pittman’s testimony appears to back up the narrative shared by Sund, who resigned shortly after violent insurrectionists threatened the presidential transfer of power. That discrepancy between former officials’ recollections of their response is an early, defining element of the investigation into the handling of the insurrection. And Sund’s recollection appeared suspect, since video of Irving on the House floor at 1:09 p.m. seemed to confirm his account. But Pittman’s...

During his weekend retreat at Camp David, Biden, and his granddaughter Naomi played the racing video game, and he won. Naomi shared a video to Instagram that showed Biden competing against her on the Arcade GP DX machines, complete with chairs and steering wheels. Naomi Biden posted on Snapchat this weekend that she and her grandfather played an arcade-style game round of Mario Kart at Camp David over the weekend — and that he won. “Secret Service made an exception and let him drive himself!” Naomi Biden, who is 27, wrote on the photo, adding: “A little rusty but he...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic congresswoman from New York, flashed a double white-power symbol during a Zoom conference about New York City’s crime uptick. Perhaps it was just an “OK” sign or even just a mindless gesture, but that doesn’t matter these days. During the Zoom video, which The Hill uploaded to its YouTube channel Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez spoke to constituents and answered press questions about rising crime rates in the Big Apple. She pointed to the Wuhan virus, financial instability, and police brutality as reasons for the rise in crime, failing to mention anything about the violent riots that swept the...

Kenneth R. Timmerman today properly reminds us that it is leaders, not institutions, that have betrayed us. James S. Corum reminds us today of the deep bench that resides in the party below the level of top congressional leaders — and the formidable power of state governments and political organizations under GOP control. Discarding these tools amounts to unilateral disarmament just as we need them in the critical elections ahead. Leaders can be influenced and discarded, but institutions take a long time to build. We have state-level redistricting in immediate prospect and a midterm election in less than 22 months....

Vice President Mike Pence told President Trump on Tuesday that he did not believe he had the power to block congressional certification of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory in the presidential election despite Mr. Trump’s baseless insistence that he did, people briefed on the conversation said. Mr. Pence’s message, delivered during his weekly lunch with the president, came hours after Mr. Trump further turned up the public pressure on the vice president to do his bidding when Congress convenes Wednesday in a joint session to ratify Mr. Biden’s Electoral College win. “The Vice President has the power to reject fraudulently...

Donald Trump should declare Marshall Law in the 4 or 6 states where there is convincing proof that election cheating resulted in the theft of Trump's victory in those states. The declaration should include the military conducting a new election in each of those 4 or 6 states with the goal of restoring integrity to our 2020 Presidential selection. If Trump doesn't declare Marshall Law, history will not record this huge crime against our Republic. History will just record that Joe Biden won while Donald Trump made frivolous accusations. Marshall Law will get everybody's attention with a warning for domestic...

The gay penguins strike again. A pair of two male African penguins at a Dutch zoo, who made international headlines last year when they stole an egg from a heterosexual couple, have now stolen the nest of a lesbian duo, DierenPark Amsersfoort said in a Facebook post. Zookeeper Sander Drost told Dutch News that the gay couple is taking turns sitting on the eggs to keep them warm. But, Drost said, the eggs are likely unfertilized and will not hatch because they were laid by a lesbian penguin couple.

Is it just me, or was there more at play in this Hunter Biden laptop matter? From what we know, the laptop came into the possession of the Mac Shop owner through abandonment by Hunter Biden. The shop owner discovered potential evidence of numerous crimes. Through an intermediary, he contacted the FBI in September of 2019. Some time in November, the FBI came out and made a copy of the hard drive, but they left the laptop. Then on December 9, 2019, the Federal District Court of Delaware issued a subpoena directing the FBI to take possession of the laptop....

In a sane world this would have to be true, right? He has no reason to lie. The footage will be globally available in 48 hours. We’ll all know the truth, or at least have strong opinions about it, by Friday afternoon. But in a sane world, he wouldn’t have gone boasting to New York tabloids in July that he had totally pwn3d Sacha Baron Cohen by foiling a prank, knowing that Cohen had footage of him lying on a bed with his hands down his pants. So, yeah, Rudy’s perfectly capable of telling lies which he has every reason to...

...The two attacks on opposite sides of Africa are among the scores of violent episodes to shake the continent in what experts are calling a breakout year for extremist groups affiliated with al-Qaeda or the Islamic State. .... The spike in terrorist attacks mirrors a steady, if less dramatic, increase in Islamist violence in parts of Syria and Iraq, driven by Islamic State fighters who slipped away after the caliphate’s defeat and have now regrouped.... The resurgence threatens to undermine one facet of President Trump’s reelection pitch to voters: his oft-repeated claim of victory over the Islamic State. ...The rise...

Believe it or not, I have friends that are Democrats Democrats, Now I know you don't like President Trump. That’s a given, so let's move on from that. How about the division of America. Do you blame Trump for that? How about when None of the Democrats showed up for his inauguration? Don't you think that started the division? He hadn't even been president yet, and except for Clinton and Obama, not one Democrat showed up. Is that when Trump divided America? Can you imagine if the Republicans didn't show up for Obama's inauguration because they lost? Can you even...

It is interesting anyway. Watch the difference in Covid totals, I am not saying any country wants to 'take the lead' in this category. But watch, nevertheless. India seems poised to, at least, challenge America, at this questionable total.
