It’s Time To Go RINO Hunting By Herman Cain June 7, 2006 The split in the majority party between conservatives and RINOs – Republicans in Name Only – first became apparent during last year’s debate over proposals to restructure the Social Security program. The chasm has only deepened this session in debates and votes in Congress on immigration, tax policy, spending and judicial nominees. Whether we agree or not with all aspects of President Bush’s agenda, we at least know his positions. Conversely, Congressional Republicans are like a lost ship adrift at sea with no captain or compass. President Bush’s...

IT HAS now become less politically risky for Democrats to accept gay marriage than to support taxing the richest 1 percent of Americans. And that reality speaks volumes about the Democratic dilemma. On Wednesday, Senate Republicans offered a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage that they knew had no chance of passage. Their purpose was simple and cynical: Rally the faltering Republican hard-core base, and force a vote that they hoped would embarrass Democrats. The constitutional measure, which required 67 votes to pass, got only 49. Just one Democrat, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, supported it. Seven Republicans, including all five New...

President Bush has set out his goals on immigration reform to the American people. "There is," he said, "a rational middle ground between granting an automatic path to citizenship for every illegal immigrant, and a program of mass deportation." I agree that a rational middle ground can be found -- but amnesty is not the middle ground. Instead, I will soon be introducing legislation, the Border Integrity and Immigration Reform Act. ...It will include a guest worker program -- but it will not include an amnesty...I believe this legislation is a strong alternative to the amnesty plan passed by the...

WASHINGTON — Rep. John Murtha, a 16-term Democrat known for his close ties to the military and his outspoken opposition to the war in Iraq, said Friday he will run for House majority leader if Democrats win control in November. Murtha, 73, wrote in a letter to Democratic colleagues that he would seek the post "if we prevail, as I hope and know we will, and return to the majority this next Congress." "I would appreciate your consideration and vote and look forward to speaking to you personally about my decision," he wrote. Murtha, regarded as a close ally of...

Conservative Republicans held such hopes when Pres. Bush was heralded into office and the Republicans gained control of the Congress. That was then, this is now. According to recent polls, conservative republicans are perplexed by the non-conservative actions of this president and the Republican-controlled Congress. As I probed this latest confusion I found that I, and millions of other citizens, are f-o-s-s-i-l-s. According to Wikipedia Encyclopedia online, we are "Paleo" or "Old" conservatives. We are living fossils, 'about-to-become-extinct' hangers-on of the Grand Old Party which no longer appears to represent traditional conservatism. The Republican Party in its essentials has been...

IRAQI police discovered Abu Musab al-Zarqawi alive in the rubble of his bombed safe house, then watched him try to roll off a stretcher before dying, it emerged yesterday.Announcing his death, US officials said on Thursday that the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq had been found dead after two F16s dropped a pair of 500lb bombs on his safe house in Hibhib, a village in Diyala province 48km (30 miles) northeast of Baghdad. But Major-General Bill Caldwell said that he had learnt early yesterday that al-Zarqawi had survived the initial airstrikes on his two-floor breeze-block hideout. “We did, in fact,...

WASHINGTON — Responding to bipartisan criticism, the Bush administration announced new regulations Friday aimed at cracking down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said the rules will streamline the procedure businesses follow to verify Social Security numbers and process I-9 forms for eligibility to work in the United States. “Most businesses want to do the right thing when it comes to employing legal workers,” Chertoff said in a statement accompanying the new regulations. President Bush previewed the regulations last week in a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in which he urged...

Every Wednesday a small but growing energetic group of Rocklin (near Sacramento) residents gather to rally for our President and our brave and courageous military and annoy the heck out of the Bush haters across the street. We get a lot of support from Rocklin residents driving by. The hippies may get a few honks, but we get the enthusiastic ones. Click on the link for some pictures and then go the news link and read about Mark, the young man who saw these goons protesting and what he did. His brother is a marine serving in Iraq.Rocklin, CA

June 02, 2006, 6:44 a.m. Bloated and IncompetentRepublicans need to be cut off. By Rich Lowry The humorist P. J. O’Rourke famously said, “Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.†That cynical, libertarian sentiment felt out of step after 9/11, when Washington seemed set to embark on a period of high seriousness of purpose. Nearly five years later, however, it’s clear that even homeland-security funding is dangerous in the hands of Washington lawmakers. The Department of Homeland Security has just announced this year’s urban counterterrorism grants. The department was working...
