EVERS’ SHOCKING RESPONSE TO SENATE REPUBLICANS Safer at Home through Summer and Doesn’t Prevent Spike to Overwhelm Hospitals; 35% of Employers may Permanently Close; 750,000 Out of Work; No Regionalization MADISON – On Friday afternoon, Governor Tony Evers responded to a letter to Senator Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) and other State Senate Republicans seeking information into the decision-making process behind the Stay-at-Home extension. In his response to Republicans, Evers twice hints at extending Safer-At-Home through the summer. Evers answer also states that 35% of all Wisconsin employers may close forcing over 725,000 people to permanently lose their jobs. After reviewing the...

Racine County District Attorney W. Richard Chiapete said Saturday there is no evidence that crimes were committed at city of Racine polling places in the June 5 recall election. The Racine County Sheriff's Department investigated four separate complaints of voting fraud at city polling places on June 5, but information received in the complaints did not support a criminal prosecution, Chiapete said in a statement. "Some of the information that was provided was anecdotal, as opposed to firsthand eyewitness accounts," the statement says. "Much of what was reported as fraud was more appropriately categorized as rule violations that are under...

[Racine, Wisc...] Thousands of voters who registered at the polls on recall election day in the City of Racine may not have signed the supplemental poll list as required by law, the MacIver News Service has learned. Individuals who register as new voters or change their voter registration on election day do not appear on the pre-printed voter rolls maintained by election workers. Those same-day registrants are added to a supplemental poll list, maintained at each polling location across Wisconsin. A space is provided on the Supplemental Poll List for new registrants to sign by their hand-written entry, and by...

Wisconsin state GOP. Sen. Van Wanggaard asked elections officials Friday for a recount in his recall race, the outcome of which will decide the majority party in the state Senate. An official canvass this week showed the Racine Republican trailing his Democratic challenger by 834 votes, or 1.2 percent. Democrats had called on Wanggaard to concede, saying a recount would only delay their inevitable and waste taxpayer money. But Wanggaard's campaign said it was concerned about possible reports of voting irregularities, and said it wanted to ensure the outcome was accurate. Given how many votes were cast in the election...

[Racine, Wisc...] A Racine County Sheriff's Department official confirmed to the MacIver News Service that it is investigating the discovery of discarded election-related documents in the city of Racine. At issue are election registration forms and partisan political literature found in a dumpster behind the Cesar Chavez Community Center in the City of Racine. Upon hearing the allegations, the MacIver News Service contacted the Racine County Sheriff's department to confirm that they were looking into the matter. Captain Thomas Lamke from the Racine County Sheriff's Office responded to our inquiry and confirmed an investigation was ongoing. The department provided no...

RACINE, WI (WTAQ) - Van Wanggaard says he’s not about to hand control of the Wisconsin Senate to the Democrats, without a thorough review of the votes cast in his recall election. The Election Night tally showed that Wanggaard lost to Democrat John Lehman by 779 votes, or 1.1 percent out of 72,000 votes cast Tuesday. But Wanggaard tells WRJN Radio in Racine that at least 600 absentee ballots have still not been counted. The station says there have been reports of voting irregularities throughout Racine County, and problems with the unofficial tally. So Wanggaard says he’ll hold tight before...

Democrats appeared to have assumed control of the state Senate with results posted early Wednesday showing former Sen. John Lehman (D-Racine) defeating incumbent Van Wanggaard in a tight race. Republicans held on to three other state Senate seats in Tuesday's recall voting. Democratic challengers lost recalls bids against Sens. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls.). Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Stettin) was elected to fill the vacancy left by Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau), who resigned earlier this year after opponents gathered enough signatures to initiate a recall election. All eyes Wednesday will be on the 21st District. Results posted early...

For Immediate Release June 6, 2012 Statement from Senator Van Wanggaard “Over 70,000 people voted yesterday in a historic election. We know that there are a number of outstanding absentee ballots, voting irregularities, and that there were problems across the county in the unofficial tally of ballots.” “People across the state and country have asked that I immediately ask for a recount. However, we all know that the best decisions are made when well-rested and after consideration of all options.” “We will closely monitor the canvass of votes with legal representation. We will evaluate our options regarding recounts following the...

Racine – If there’s a battleground within the battleground in Wisconsin’s recall wars, this is it – a political no man’s land where the two parties have spent a quarter-century trading control of the same tenuous turf. This is the only state Senate district in America whose voters have forced two recall elections. It’s a district unique in Wisconsin for its volatility and thirst for change. It has changed partisan hands five times in 22 years. It has re-elected its state senators only twice since 1990, and booted them four times, a tally that could rise to five on June...

Sources close to the Senator Wanggaard Campaign are stating that 130 high school students have signed the recall petitions calling for a recall election. There are 80 confirmed signatures of students who are not old enough to vote. They were verifying additional signatures for eligibility. The group states that they are filing an addendum to the challenge for the recall signatures. It is not confirmed if these students also signed other recall papers for the Governor. More on this story as it develops.

MADISON — Four Republican state senators targeted for recall are expected to submit their challenges to the signatures that could result in voiding any elections. Today is the deadline for the senators to make any challenges to petitions filed with the Government Accountability Board. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has said he plans on challenging enough to stop the recall election against him. The other three senators haven't said how many signatures they will challenge. Those targeted senators are Van Wanggaard of Racine, Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls and Pam Galloway of Wausau. Once submitted, it's then up to the...
