Racine County District Attorney W. Richard Chiapete said Saturday there is no evidence that crimes were committed at city of Racine polling places in the June 5 recall election. The Racine County Sheriff's Department investigated four separate complaints of voting fraud at city polling places on June 5, but information received in the complaints did not support a criminal prosecution, Chiapete said in a statement. An official canvass this week showed the Racine Republican trailing his Democratic challenger by 834 votes, or 1.2 percent. Sources close to the Senator Wanggaard Campaign are stating that 130 high school students have signed the recall petitions calling for a recall election. There are 80 confirmed signatures of students who are not old enough to vote. They were verifying additional signatures for eligibility. The group states that they are filing an addendum to the challenge for the recall signatures. It is not confirmed if these students also signed other recall papers for the Governor. MADISON — Four Republican state senators targeted for recall are expected to submit their challenges to the signatures that could result in voiding any elections. Today is the deadline for the senators to make any challenges to petitions filed with the Government Accountability Board.
