HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - An American warship made a rare visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, a sign the two countries are looking to improve military ties 30 years after the Vietnam War. <p>The commanding officer of the Japan-based frigate Gary was relieved of command Dec. 12, according to 7th Fleet. Cmdr. Tito Dua, who assumed command of the frigate in July 2002, was relieved by Capt. Samuel Perez, commander of Destroyer Squadron 15, for a “loss of confidence” in Dua’s ability to command.</p>

THE US Navy rescued eight Iraqi sailors from their sinking fishing boat in the Gulf, navy officials aboard the USS Kitty Hawk said.
