Six Kansas-based former members of a cult called the United Nation of Islam (UNOI) have been convicted after forcing children to work 16-hour days for no pay while housing them in inhumane conditions. A federal grand jury in Kansas indicted eight people for their alleged involvement in a forced labor scheme involving businesses around the U.S. that were owned by an organization that has frequently been described as a "cult."
