The United States has 14,000 troops in Afghanistan, 39,000 in Japan, 34,805 in Germany, 23,000 in South Korea, and around 5,200 in Iraq. Our military protects the borders of countless nations. Except our own. In 1919, we had 18,500 soldiers on the border. “Twice a day every foot of the border line is patrolled by cavalrymen and infantrymen,” the New York Times noted. A hundred years later, President Trump’s proposal to use the military to secure the border is controversial even though Marines fighting drug cartels have come under fire from drug smugglers. El Salvadoran migration has inflicted 207 murderers...

The Trump administration began outlining a plan Wednesday to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to fight illegal immigration, but will likely not allow the troops to have physical contact with immigrants, according to three administration officials. The planning follows an announcement by President Donald Trump on Tuesday that came as a surprise to many of his advisers. "Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military," Trump said on Tuesday. The plans were laid out in a meeting with senior level Department of Homeland Security officials...

Border-crossers entering the United States illegally have an 88 percent chance of evading immediate deportation by claiming “credible fear” in their native country, the Department of Justice (DOJ) analysis reveals. The issue of the country’s loose asylum laws — where foreign nationals can claim that they are fearing for their lives in their native country and be released into the U.S. until their day in court — has sparked debate, as a caravan of 1,500 Central American asylum-seekers are headed for the southern border. In 88 percent of cases, foreign nationals seeking asylum in the U.S. evade immediate deportation after...

MATIAS ROMERO, MEXICO — After days of walking from Mexico’s southern border, the caravan of hundreds of migrants that has drawn President Trump’s Twitter ire has now halted on a brown-grass soccer field, its participants unsure and anxious about the way forward. The men and women, most from Central America, were squatting Tuesday in a walled public park while government officials decided their fate. “We are scared, just like you,” Irineo Mujica, the head coordinator of the migrant caravan, told the assembled group through a megaphone Tuesday morning. “Now President Donald Trump has said that he wants to hit us...

After a series of scathing tweets from President Trump, the Mexican government has stopped a caravan of illegal aliens traveling through Mexico from Honduras and on their way to the United States. The caravan was organized by People Without Borders, a far left organization. From WAPO: The Mexican government on Monday evening moved to break up the caravan of migrants moving through southern Mexico, with immigration officials registering the travelers and suggesting some could receive humanitarian visas while others would have to leave Mexico. The caravan, estimated at more than 1,000 migrants, many from Central America, has gained increasing visibility...

President to Mexico: Group of immigrants ‘had better be stopped’ President Donald Trump warned Honduras and Mexico he will retaliate if an alleged “caravan” of immigrants from the Central American country enters the United States. The president for several days has appeared fixated on what he claims is a large group of immigrants he contends plans to try to enter the United States illegally. If they do, Trump says he might cut off U.S. aid to Honduras and terminate the North American Free Trade Agreement, which he says has benefited Mexico. But Congress might object to the former, since lawmakers...
