By Hans Zeiger CNSNews.com Commentary September 03, 2003 While the state of California was distracted by the governor's race last week, the California legislature passed a resolution haranguing the Boy Scouts for their moral codes. By a vote of 22-15, the state Senate passed Resolution 89 that the assembly passed earlier in the year, declaring that "the discriminatory policy [barring homosexual and atheist members and leaders] of the Boy Scouts of America is contrary to the policy of the State of California." Senator Tom McClintock, a Republican candidate for governor, is the only candidate who has registered his support for...

IS ARNOLD’S WEAKNESS McCLINTOCK’S FAULT? by Andrew Russo Arnold Schwarzenegger’s failure to move beyond the 22 to 25% range in most recent California surveys is sending the Republican Party’s country-club establishment into panic. Arnold, after all, fits their mold perfectly. A so-called “fiscal conservative,” but “social moderate,” the Terminator was supposed to be the Great White Hope of the comatose California GOP. We all know that true conservative Republicans can’t win general elections in the Golden State, so the Republican rank-and-file were supposed to play “good soldiers,” follow the lead of the moneyed party elite, and joyfully climb aboard the...

Latest California Trend: Taxes Media Think It's Far Out, Locals Aren't So Hip By Michael Fumento Investor's Business Daily, October 3, 1991 Copyright 1991 by Investor's Business Daily To the Eastern establishment media, California's Republican Gov. Pete Wilson, fresh from having signed into law the largest tax increase in the state's history, is a heroic, pragmatic politician. The Wall Street Journal, in a highly favorable profile, quoted one pundit saying Wilson "could be the prototype governor of the 1990s." Time called him a "can-do politician with the guts to cast aside ideology for the sake of better government." Dan Quayle...

Gray Davis in California’s special October 7 recall election. Dana Rohrabacher (R.-Calif.), a conservative who has endorsed Schwarzenegger’s candidacy. McClintock, who graduated with honors from the University of California...

Hiram Johnson confronted the same problem; he was also a political maverick," McClintock said. "He realized he had to take his case directly to the people, and he did." If state lawmakers won't curb their spending, McClintock says he'll take his case for reform directly to the people too. "Ultimately, the governor, whoever he is, will have to rally the people for the fundamental reforms needed to change our state," he said. "The Constitution gives the people the ultimate authority."

(Note: If you are an Arnold supporter this thread is NOT for you to debate about Arnold - please go on another thread to argue about McClintock vs Arnold. Thank you for your attention.) This is my first editorial on FR so here it goes: Right now the main problem for team McClintock is not Arnold Schwarzenegger, but Bill Simon. Simon is the largest threat to McClintock because he is siphoning off Conservative votes that would surely go to McClintock. In order to have any chance to win the Governorship, McClintock will have to neutralize the threat coming from Simon....

GOP Pressures Schwarzenegger's Rivals to Quit Republican leaders are urging businessman Bill Simon, state Sen. Tom McClintock and former baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth to quit the race to replace Gov. Gray Davis and clear the way for Arnold Schwarzenegger, the San Francisco Chronicle reported today. Sean Walsh, a spokesman for the movie star, acknowledged the effort but said Schwarzenegger's campaign was not involved. "There are numerous politicians, activists and business leaders who believe Arnold is what we need to fix California's problems," Walsh said. "They have informed us that they've tried to convince the others to leave." Duf Sundheim, the...

Arnold Schwarzenegger is not experienced enough to run for Governor, and so far he has not said specificly what he is going to do to help the state of California. The man with the experience to save California is Tom McClintock, and all conservatives should try to help him get elected. You can help Tom McClintock by calling Talk Show Hosts in California and any national Talk Show Hosts, and ask them to publicly endorse McClintock on their radion shows, and tell their listeners to go out and vote for McClintock (If their listeners live in California). Here are a...

Worse than Davis? Reverend Lou Sheldon sent out the following press release: Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition, said today Arnold Schwarzenegger would create a "moral vacuum" in Sacramento if he became California's governor. "As Governor, Mr. Schwarzenegger would be a darker villain than any he has faced in his movies. And when it comes to the moral issues that Californians really care about - he gives us inaction not action.... "It is hard to imagine a worse governor than Gray Davis but Mr. Schwarzenegger would be it. California has enough problems without adding a...

Just got back from Tom McClintock's Kick-Off reception in Simi Valley. There were about 100 loyal supporters there. (No press because they weren't invited). Tony Strickland was there to introduce Tom and to do a little fund raising. Over $25,000 was raised in less than 10 minutes. Tom is a great guy and would make a wonderful governor. He knows what needs to be done and isn't afraid to do it. He will need help getting there - particularly $$$$-wise so if you are inclined to help Tom, please do so. He and his team are committed to winning the...

The following AP story is excerpted from this morning's Washington Post: 'Terminator' in Calif. Recall Race By ERICA WERNER The Associated Press Thursday, August 7, 2003; 7:55 AM LOS ANGELES - With a surprise jump into California's recall race, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger touched off the heaviest tremors in the state's political earthquake to date, saying he wasn't afraid of attacks sure to come from Democrats and conservative Republicans alike. But the aftershock from a day of topsy-turvy developments in the drive to recall Gov. Gray Davis came just hours later, when Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante broke party ranks to...

Recall: Does Davis Have CA's Support? Posted: August 5, 2003 at 4:20 p.m. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The countdown is on. This Saturday, those who want to run for governor in the recall election must have their paperwork turned in. Will the Democrats stand united behind Gray Davis, or will a major player break ranks during this critical week? There are only 63 days until the recall election is scheduled to be held. Today held more action across the state, from a "new" candidate entering the race to "new" backing of the governor. This morning Republican state senator Tom McClintock...

LOS ANGELES (AP) The county spent about $350 million last year providing health care to illegal immigrants, the Department of Health Services said. Massive health cuts, including the closure of 16 health clinics and possibly two hospitals, as well as slashes in services, could have been avoided if that money was available for other uses, officials said. The Board of Supervisors votes Tuesday on a plan to create a work permit for Mexicans wanting to come to the county for a certain period of time for a certain job. The law would require would-be employers to put up an insurance...

Ok, I know that McClintock becoming Governor is far from a sure thing right now, but, Should McClintock become Governor I have 1 Question: What can McClintock do, as Governor, to crack down on the worthless Illegal Mexican leaches that are bankrupting the State? I learned that McClintock can't resurect Prop 187 without the approval of the AG, and the Rat Legislature will obviously never vote for ANY bill that proposes to cut the Goooooooodies the Illegals get from the California Taxpayer, so what are McClintock's options should he become Governor? Could he give an executive order that requires valid...
