In my last column, I wrote about the national importance of keeping the Florida governorship in Republican hands during this redistricting term. The makeup of three or four US House seats are possibly at stake, which may at one point be enough to swing control of the chamber. Democrat Alex Sink made the best choice for her side by picking Rod Smith. Sen. Smith is the type of candidate who can gain swing voters. Sink will have problems, having served as President of Florida Operations of Bank of America and due to the fact that this is a Republican leaning...

Some elections are more important than others. This is especially true of one state race in particular. In South Florida, one candidate said that “our shores are the frontline in defending our nation,” and proposed comprehensive shoreline surveillance. This inexpensive program would have the potential to save many lives. It would also curb illegal immigration, saving our state hundreds of millions every year by getting to the root of the problem. ... He’s also a man of action. When the earthquake in Haiti hit, Yomin mobilized a coalition of candidates in a way that is unmatched. He’s also the only...

Florida is set to deliver a number of true conservatives to Congress and to take back two, three or even more seats from the Democrats. If Republicans regain the House, as we are poised to do, Florida will have a key role in that effort. But of all our great candidates, not only in Florida, but anywhere in the nation, Tom Garcia in the crucial FL-24 race stands out above the crowd. Commander Tom Garcia is a rare mix of character, integrity, brashness and common sense. His election stands to improve America’s national security and economic wellbeing more than any...

Congressional candidate Tom Garcia, a former Commander and aviator in the United States Navy running in Florida's 24th congressional district, has become the first congressional candidate to propose federal legislation that would implement the recently passed Arizona immigration laws nationwide. In a press release today, Commander Garcia stated the following: As a proud American of Hispanic Heritage, it is clear to me that citizenship is a national treasure and one that should not be given out freely to those who trespass on our national sovereignty. I am particularly offended by those who are calling Arizona's Immigration bill SB 1070 a...

This past weekend, the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) held its quarterly meeting up in Orlando. While there, I was able to meet up with Tom Garcia, a candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th Congressional District. Garcia faces a primary battle with two other establishment-type politicos, and should he win, he will face Democrat incumbent Suzanne Kosmas. Garcia is a married father of two and a former Navy fighter pilot. My initial impression of Garcia as a politician was very favorable- I was impressed with his candor and frankness, qualities you don’t often see with aspiring politicians who are usually...

Has anyone noticed how Kendrick Meek is all over the press about Haiti, while he does precious little to help Haitians in Haiti? The sad part is, there are real efforts underway by Republicans, who are branded as racists as Democrats play politics with every natural disaster. Here are true stories of GOP candidates who've put aside their businesses, campaigns and everything else to bring real help to Haiti. One of them, Tom Garcia, even risked his life. They don't want illegal immigration, which would also hurt Haitians, who would be left to fend for themselves in a foreign land...

On Tuesday night, devastation struck the island of Haiti. As soon as news broke, Tom Garcia, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th district, got in touch with other candidates across the state and established a coalition for Haitian relief. The candidates discussed a strategy for relief for half of the night. At 1:00 am, the plan was finalized, Garcia had located a water purification expert who had led other disaster relief missions, a Cessna was filled with high-level purifiers and the two flew into Port au Prince. Touching ground, Garcia, a former naval commander, spent the first day distributing food...
