In certain passages of scripture it says that tithes are to be given to the Levites, and then the Levites were to give a tenth to the priests. In other scriptures is says to bring ye the tithe into the storehouse, that my house may be full. A court-appointed receiver is suing the LDS Church for tithes made by a Utah man accused of securities fraud. In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court, Lon A. Jenkins claims that Robert Casey Hall fraudulently transferred $160,306 to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through one of his companies and its entities. NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The city tax collector is ready to put a local church that has been in New London since 1835 on the auction block for payment of a $4,339 tax bill.
