The shifting sands of Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke’s gun control plans have solidified, for now, into a pledge to buy back AR-15s and AK-47s from Texans if the state legislature will support doing it. O’Rourke spoke with Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith on Saturday and KVUE reported O’Rourke’s comments.

The Texas Tribune issued a major correction Thursday after falsely reporting that 5,800 children had been hospitalized with COVID-19 over a seven-day period. The initial report claimed that a major spike in coronavirus infections had resulted in 5,800 children being hospitalized, but the correction noted that there had actually been 5,800 children hospitalized with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

While U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz expressed unhappiness Saturday with some of Donald Trump's comments related to the president's call with Ukraine's leader, the Texas Republican emphatically pushed back against the Democratic movement to impeach the commander in chief. Shh! One of the U.S. Senate candidates backed out of a scheduled debate but could we just forget about that and move on to other matters? That seems to be the reaction of the Texas Tribune to the news that the Democrat candidate in the Senate race to unseat incumbent Ted Cruz, Beto O'Rourke, backed out of a scheduled debate set for August 31. Since then, it has been treated as a rather minor matter by a periodical whose main shtick is Texas politics.

While there have been only a smattering of climate change references since Hurricane Harvey took over news cycles, CNN and MSNBC featured more shameful exploitations of the hurricane on Monday to promote climate change as thousands were in need of help from rising flood waters. The Texas Tribune is a left wing publication out of Austin, Texas, so it is not surprising that it takes a disarmist position against open carry.  Still, it is interesting to see how it is done.  All of the state wide office holders involved came out for open carry during the election.  While she did not become an office holder, even the Democrat candidate for governor, Wendy Davis, came out in favor of it.  This helps explain why the left wing media in Texas were not too outspoken against open carry during the election.   Now that the election is...

How does a Democrat candidate for the highest office in the state become a nonperson at the "non-partisan" Texas Tribune? When that person's campaign goes into such a freefall that it becomes an embarrassment to even report on it. Such seems to be the case with the Wendy Davis campaign for  governor in Texas. The last time the Texas Tribune directly reported about her was a full week ago on August 15 which not so coincidentally is when the Rick Perry indictment happened.
