COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police say a woman who stole a cruiser and sped down Interstate 75 last weekend was high on synthetic marijuana. According to the newly released criminal warrant, Emmerli Wilcoxson drove the stolen cruiser on I-75 southbound beginning at Windy Hill Road. Police said she fled officers, failed to maintain her lane, drove at speeds exceeding 130 MPH and screamed into the police radio before finally causing a serious crash at the North Avenue exit in downtown Atlanta.

Synthetic marijuana is believed to have sickened 221 people in Colorado during a monthlong outbreak this year, according to a federal report released Thursday. The report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is based on a joint investigation with state health officials launched after Colorado hospitals started seeing an increase in emergency room visits by people who had used synthetic pot in late August.
