It’s a story that goes to the very heart of the Left’s mountain of shadowy funding and professional activism: a foreign billionaire infamous for illegally funding Democrats, enriched by selling ghoulish medical treatments that resulted in multiple deaths, and bankrolling a multimillion-dollar “dark money” campaign to transform America. Meet Swiss-born Hansjörg Wyss (pronounced “Hans-yurg Veese”), perhaps the most important mega-donor you’ve never heard of. His Wyss Foundation, founded in 1998, quietly commands a stunning $2.7 billion in assets (as of 2021) and annually pours out tens of millions of dollars to activist groups—around a billion dollars between 2002 and 2021—so...

Wisconsin’s gerrymandering case has garnered national attention. But a little-explored aspect of the suit — the pervasive presence of “Swiss cheese” districts — could have huge ramifications for the outcome.

The seemingly endless restrictions on freedom are causing people to take to the streets, at least in Switzerland. About 500 protesters gathered in the Swiss city of Zug following the health minister's announcement that current coronavirus restrictions will remain in place until the end of February, perhaps longer if more infectious strains of the virus continue to spread. Protesters wore white protective suits as they marched against the country's lockdown measures. Switzerland tightened restrictions last month, limiting gatherings to five people, having employees work remotely when possible, closing nonessential stores and mandating face masks in stores that remain open. According...

According to a new investigation by Swiss media, a cell of jihadists based in Geneva plotted to bomb cisterns full of oil near the city’s airport in a major terror attack. The plot, which was set to take place last year before being stopped, revolved largely around a man named Daniel D., who also went by the Islamic name Abu Ilias al-Swisri, a convert to Islam who went on to join the Islamic State terror group two years later, Le Temps reports. Al-Swisri, now 25-years-old, had attended the Petit-Saconnex mosque where he met two other radicals named “PF” and Ramzi,...

European researchers and students are conducting a mock moon habitat trial under a glacier near the famous Matterhorn in Switzerland's Alps. Called IGLUNA, the demonstration is organized by the Swiss Space Center and the European Space Agency. Teams from across Europe arrived in the car-free mountain town of Zermatt, Switzerland, last week to set up their experiments, which include an ice-digging robot, a construction robot, an algae bioreactor and a hydroponic system for growing veggies. They've also built a habitat 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) tall buried deep in the ice. Zurbrügg, who is leading the habitat-construction team, said that his...

According to USA Today, the new gun control regulations include: • Regular firearms training. • Special permits to own semi-automatic firearms. • Serial number tracking system for key parts of guns. • Register all firearms within three years. • Keep a log of every firearm in their collection Compared to the rest of Europe, Switzerland is a lot more gun friendly. After serving in the military, veterans are allowed to keep their firearms and a large number of Swiss take part in the shooting sports.

Exit polls Sunday indicate Swiss voters will likely adopt tighter gun measures more aligned with the European Union by a comfortable margin. Swiss citizens voted Sunday in a referendum that included laws entailing serial-numbering of some gun parts, training requirements and waivers to possess certain semi-automatic weapons. The referendum could also impact Switzerland’s standing in the visa-free Schengen travel zone, according to USA Today.

More than 900,000 cubic yards of cheddar, American and Swiss currently sit in cold storage across the United States, enough cheese to form a wheel the size of the U.S. Capitol building. The excess is the biggest the country has seen since the government started keeping track a century ago, and it's 16 percent larger than the cheese surplus of 2016 when the government offered to buy up $20 million worth of excess cheese... "Part of it is changes in the domestic use of that milk." Another factor is trade — "a self-inflicted wound," Novakovic says. And there is growing...

Sticking to an anti-inflammatory diet isn’t easy. It involves cutting ties with gluten, dairy, and (of course) sugar. Sure, there are some amazing nut cheeses, but they aren’t typically what’s being cut into cubes and passed around on Bachelorette Mondays at your friend’s place. Good news: Scientists just endorsed a way for you to get your cheese fix while still sticking to your meal plan. According to Metro UK, a new study out of Korea found that the probiotics in Swiss cheese actually have the ability to reduce inflammation and strengthen your immune system. Is your mind-blown? A new study...

Here is a video about Swiss civilians and their firearm ownership. I find it interesting that the Swiss Goverment hands out practice ammo for these special range days for all armed citizens to practice with. There are some details of the range, in the video, interesting.

Supporters of mandatory gun registration had argued that the police had been calling for this simple measure to increase firearm safety. “In Switzerland we register cars. It is odd not to do it for guns whose primary aim is to kill. It would allow us to save lives and avoid family shootings,” said Green Party senator Luc Recordon.

A man who was shot and killed in a gun battle with deputies early Tuesday morning in San Leandro was identified as a 32-year-old Oakland resident, authorities said Thursday. Dante Osborne was shot multiple times after exchanging gunfire with deputies in an alleyway near Interstate 238 around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Ray Kelly with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

Switzerland is the world's happiest nation thanks to healthy GDP figures, strong social bonds and an increasing life expectancy, a new study of global wellbeing has revealed. The list is dominated by European nations, particularly those in Scandinavia, and measures a country's population by factors contributing to its citizens' contentment, rather than wealth. Britons are happier now than they were two years ago, the study found, but still ranks in at a relatively lowly 21st place. And despite often mocking its northern neighbour as an inferior nation, the United States is a full 10 places below Canada, ranking at 10th...

TAMPA -- The family of a man who killed a Polk County sheriff's deputy and was subsequently riddled with 68 bullets called on Florida Gov. Jeb Bush Thursday to order an independent investigation of the shooting. Nine SWAT officers fired a total of 110 bullets at 27-year-old Angilo Freeland last week after he fatally shot a Polk County deputy and his dog and wounded another fleeing from a traffic stop. ``This is not about a lawsuit. Nobody is suing anybody,'' the family's attorney, Grady Irvin, said at a Thursday afternoon new conference. ``What this is all about is this death...

You may not understand now what I am going to say, which has to do with separation from, and separation of, family. But you very well will understand in your own time. The illegal aliens who are now so demanding, and who are now being given their demands. and for that reason will now demand much, much more - indeed everything, from you - they talk about how those who want to have the most basic laws, perhaps people like you who want the most basic laws because you want to protect your family, well, people like you are told...

WASHINGTON - Long-smoldering Democratic dissension flared openly Friday as liberals sought support for a last-minute filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito against the advice of leaders worried about a backlash in the 2006 elections. "I reject those notions that there ought to somehow be some political calculus about the future. ... The choice is now," said Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the party's 2004 presidential candidate and a White House hopeful for 2008. He said it was imperative to fight for "those people who count on us to stand up and protect them." Two of the party's Senate leaders, Harry...

I am a fan of Limbaugh's but I think the soldiers don't need a 24/7 subscription. I think Limbaugh would've been a real mensch if he had just endorsed a standard Adopt- A - Soldier program that provided them with the normal TLC-- food, shaving kits, etc. He didn't have to get his beak wet... I would've gladly participated in a standard program, the subscription thing is a missed opportunity that risks appearing self interested. I don't care if a bonehead from Rio Linda gave him the idea.

An article charging that Switzerland is the “most contemptible among the enemies of Islam” was recently disseminated across several jihadist and password-protected al-Qaeda affiliated forums. The document, originally authored by Colonel Doctor Muhammad al-Ghanam, the former Director of Legal Investigations in the Egyptian Ministry of Interior and a political refugee in Switzerland, explains the alleged false guise of Swiss neutrality, not only on a political level, but on a personal level in light of al-Ghanam’s own experiences. Switzerland is branded one of the “most dangerous links in the ‘international pact of the cross’,” due to its continued participation in the...

To some voters, she is a ruthless Machiavelli-in-a-pantsuit who will do anything to resume residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. To others, she is the brilliant and inspiring golden girl, poised to make history as America's first female president. Nearly all Americans have an opinion about Hillary Rodham Clinton, the junior senator from New York, and if she runs for president, as expected, she will begin her quest for the Democratic nomination well ahead of her rivals. On one point, still with 2-1/2 years to go before the first caucuses or primaries, political analysts agree: The nomination is hers to lose....

A new worm afflicting Windows users poses as an iTunes-related file, according to security firm Trend Micro. The worm is being circulated through AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), and doesn’t cause any problems for Mac users. The file is called “WORM_OPANKI.Y” and is being spread in a file called “iTunes.exe.” This attempts to deceive users into thinking the worm is “associated with a legitimate product,” according to the security firm. “This worm has backdoor capabilities. It opens a random TCP port and connects to the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server xyz.legi0n.net. Once connected, it joins the IRC channel #fate, where it...
