TAMPA -- The family of a man who killed a Polk County sheriff's deputy and was subsequently riddled with 68 bullets called on Florida Gov. Jeb Bush Thursday to order an independent investigation of the shooting. Nine SWAT officers fired a total of 110 bullets at 27-year-old Angilo Freeland last week after he fatally shot a Polk County deputy and his dog and wounded another fleeing from a traffic stop. ``This is not about a lawsuit. Nobody is suing anybody,'' the family's attorney, Grady Irvin, said at a Thursday afternoon new conference. ``What this is all about is this death is uncommon in the means and manner by which Mr. Freeland died _ 68 bullet holes. His family just wants to put this issue to rest and they want a search for the truth, that's all.'' An Orlando-based civil rights group also on Thursday called on U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales to look into the circumstances surrounding Freeland's death. Irvin said race isn't an issue in the shooting. But he was concerned by Polk County Sheriff's Grady Judd's tough talk to reporters before and after Freeland's death.

68 bullet holes doesn't seem like uncommon mean or manner considering this scumbag killed a cop and his dog, presumably the final bullet was execution style right against the cops head with the barrel of the gun. The cops emptied their magazines on his sorry butt. perfectly justified.
``We do not condone the killing of anyone. Any wrong committed by my son does not have the blessing of me and my family. All we want is for all questions surrounding why this happened to be answered.'' ahem.. allow me to answer before we waste our time and taxpayer money comissioning an investigation. Your kid killed a cop, 2 cops, in the midst of a traffic stop because he was a drug runner. He executed a cop and ran in the woods like a coward. A manhunt followed. He was found and SWAT officers found him and emptied their magazines in or about your filthy sons body. Case closed.
The explanation is obvious: they ran out of bullets. Is this a trick question?
I dunno . . . it seems kind of simple to me. The fact that they ran out of bullets probably has a lot to do with this.

I think I saw a report where one law enforcement offical said exactly that. They ran out of bullets.

He raised his gun toward an officer while surrounded by nine of them. That tends to get you killed.
110 rounds fired, 68 hit their target. Seems like they need more ammunition.... And range time!
When that many cops ask to see your hands and you refuse to comply after you killed a cop.... chit happens.
If they did like the Chinese they would charge the perp's family 10 cents for each bullet fired.
And further, they don't want a "probe" they want some bling.
67 wasn't an even number.
