Dozens of flag-waving rallies for American troops in Iraq look like spontaneous, grass-roots gatherings. But many are orchestrated by conservative political groups, just as anti-war protests are led by peace groups and activists on the political left.

Rallies for the troops took place this weekend in cities and towns including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland, Honolulu, Jacksonville, Concord, N.H., Harrisburg, Pa., and Kingsport, Tenn. More rallies are expected.

Wow! What a day. Let me start by saying that the temperature 2 days ago was 70 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. The forecast called for 40 degrees, with sunny skies. It was not to be. The temp when I arrived at the site was in the low thirties with heavy cloud cover, brisk winds and with the promise (threat) of snow. At times, and only briefly, it neared white out conditions and the wind never let up. It cut right through you and apparently many people did not watch the weather report and were not dressed...

Dear Americans, After months of deception by Saddam Hussein, wrangling with the United Nations, and obstruction by France and Germany, the war has finally begun. In 5 days our troops have swept nearly 200 miles across Iraq and destroyed virtually all of Saddam Hussein's forces that have stood in the way of the allied advance. The armed forces are fighting as I write this and they are performing brilliantly. Their service should fill those of us at home with nothing but pride and respect for them, and that is overwhelmingly what America feels right now. Click the link below...

During the weekend of March 22-23, the Free Republic Network sponsored or assisted with 105 individual Rally for America events across America. Using the most conservative media estimates, at least 120,000 people attended Rally events. There were no reported arrests. All the national media outlets provided at least some coverage, with much more detailed reporting locally, and the wire services ran dozens of Rally photos. To be sure, ABCNNBCBS paid disproportionate attention to the various peace riots, but the leftists no longer own the streets. The purpose of the ongoing Rally for America is to provide ordinary Americans the...

Today, in San Diego, several groups came together to hold a Support the Troops Rally. The location was the North Gate of Marine Corp Air Station - Miramar (formerly the location of Top Gun). The major event organizer was a group of Marine moms, called SOS (Support Our Soldiers); the other major supporter was Roger Hedgecock from KOGO 600 AM (and whom many of you know as a substitute for Rush Limbaugh). Roger started a program called "Operation Homefront". The program is to provide help and support for the families which are left behind after the troops deploy. One church,...

The news on KOGO is saying there were at least 3000 people. My daughter, my son and I were on the sidewalk for a while waving our flags. Then we kept cirlcing around in the van while waving our flags and playing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" loud and clear. People started singing along with us. We finally left after 2 and half hours. Its still going on now as of 3:30pm PST. Some people have been there for over 4 hours. WHAT A GREAT COUNTRY. GOD BLESS THE USA AND OUR BRAVE TROOPS!

It was a spirited rally at the west steps of the California State Capitol. The crowd size was estimated at about 3,500 folks from all walks of life. Good speeches, music, signs and lots and lots of flags! There were zero pro-Saddam protesters in evidence. Here are some pics courtesy of Mrs SFConservative: Note the small sign with an appropriate sentiment toward Saddam: Blasting Tiny Tommy: A biker seemingly using an old-growth redwood for a flagpole: A couple of signs directed at the weasels: Yours truly: ... and obverse ...

One thing the military is usually quite good at is getting mail to the troops. It is not uncommon for a commander to not know where all his people are. But, somehow, the mail clerks can find them. Fact is, while in the Army I can remember being places where our government formally told the world we had no military people. The big joke was that our presence where there were no military forces could not have been that big of a military secret because the guys working the Army Post Office forwarded our mail to us there regularly. "You...
