I freeped the Peace Rally in tiny Wimberly Tx tonight. It was a candlelight vigil and I have never met nicer people. I got there about 30 minutes early and there was no one at the designated place. I did see 3 people walking around whose car had a bumper sticker that said "War with Iraq... NO" They left since nothing was going on. Finally at 15 minutes till trucks and vehicles started arriving. The "organizer" I assume, pulled his truck in and opened the back gate and raised an American flag. Since I couldn't be sure which side he...

Young Conservatives of Texas are holding a nationwide Rally For America on March 30th, 2003 at 3PM Central Standard Time. We want all US citizens who support our troops and our country to come out, join together and show the world we are behind our President. The Texas rally will be held at the state capitol, and I am assuming that other states will do the same. But, for colleges and communities that are not near their state capital, we urge them to hold rallies somewhere in their own city. Please, Please, Please help us by getting the word out...

With so many memorial sites, graphics, photos, videos, flash movies, etc. proliferating on the internet since the 9-11 attack on America, it is almost impossible to keep track of them all. The purpose of this thread is to provide a convenient archive for posterity. Use this thread to post links to any sites you have found particulary memorable or that would be of interest to other FReepers. (Please post your comments and the links only to save bandwidth).

Country artist Darryl Worley is first out of the gate with a record that endorses war with Iraq. The top new song on this week's country chart at No. 43, Have You Forgotten? may seem to equate Saddam Hussein with Osama bin Laden, but the record is striking a chord.

I have just heard that the Manchester Veterans of Foreign Wars is going tohold a rally to support the troops. I will post more as known, havent got a final date or time or location yet, but will post a new thread when information becomes necessary. As a Former Marine, I remember quite well how good it felt to hear of people supportingus while off Iran in 1980. Let's do this not just to support our President, but to let our men and woen in uniform know we DO care!!

And now, the silent majority.

With the anti-war movement getting most of the attention, Bay Area residents who back President Bush's campaign to disarm Iraq or want to show their support for U.S. troops have begun to organize as well. And, as reservists head to the Persian Gulf, they are mobilizing with urgency.

The original idea about organizing a Canteen project to mail packages to the military belongs to MoJo2001 What started out with a simple FReep mail to several people quickly became a hit. My 2 cents was to suggest that we get this project underway in time to get these packages to the military by Valentines Day. I think there are many different ways to do this. Our goal is get get packages and/or cards, letters and e-mails to the military so thay do not feel alone or forgotten on Valentines Day.If you have not been to the USO Canteen Post...

The recent spate of military deployments has left thousands of wives, husbands, parents and children without the sound of a loved one's voice. E-mails lack the personal warmth of phone calls and are poor substitutes in times of war, when any call could be the last. That's why sailors and Marines on ships line up for hours, attempting to reach out and touch family members. A recent Virginian-Pilot story detailed the trials that shipboard service members face as they try to phone home. On smaller ships, satellite phones may be available only one day per week, and then only for...

From the after-action report posted by daviddennis on www.amazing.com: Support Our Troops Rally - 8 February 2003 Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, time to once again counter the leftists and support our fine military forces in their upcoming liberation of Iraq. Our group of about 100 charming, chanting people was united in the cause, and morale was sky-high. Support from the public was excellent, with almost constant honking from the cars. A few big trucks joined in with their mighty blasts, an impressive sound indeed! Ron was there with his Saddam...

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/134631036_prowar09m.htmlHundreds rally to support U.S. troops Saying it's about time U.S. military troops realized that many Americans support them in a possible war with Iraq, hundreds of Puget Sound-area residents waved American flags and "Support Our Troops" signs yesterday at rallies in Bellevue and outside McChord Air Force Base. "We want our soldiers, our airmen to know as they're being deployed that Americans support them," said Sheryl Sheaffer, 49, of Sammamish, whose son is in the Army. "We don't want their last image to be that of the anti-war protesters." Demonstrators waving "Free Iraq" signs and a "Land of the...
