BAGHDAD, Iraq — Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Sunday offered an olive branch to insurgents who join in rebuilding Iraq and said lawmakers should set a timeline for the Iraqi military and police to take control of security throughout the country. The prime minister made no mention of any timetable for the withdrawal of U.S.-led forces in a 24-point national reconciliation plan he presented to parliament. CountryWatch: Iraq The plan would include an amnesty for insurgents and opposition figures who have not been involved in terrorist activities. Al-Maliki stressed that insurgent killers would not escape justice. "The launch of this...

June 26, 2006 issue - No one would have mentioned his name at all if President George W. Bush hadn't singled him out in public. Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, West Point '76, is not someone the Army likes to talk about. He isn't even listed in the directory at Fort Bragg, N.C., his home base. That's not because McChrystal has done anything wrong—quite the contrary, he's one of the Army's rising stars—but because he runs the most secretive force in the U.S. military. That is the Joint Special Operations Command, the snake-eating, slit-their-throats "black ops" guys who captured Saddam Hussein...

Followers of the Haditha news will recognize the name Abdul-Rahman Al-Mashhadani as the "Chairman" of the newly formed Hammurabi Organization for Human Rights and Democracy Monitoring.("Budding journalist" Thaer al-Hadithi, 43, is Hammurabi's founder and only other member. He serves as its "Secretary-General.")Online references to this humanitarian Al-Mashhadani are few and far between. Though he was mentioned as a poll watcher in October and then again in December of 2005.Photos of al-Mashhadani seem to be non-existent, except for this one of his worthy hands. Abdul-Rahman al-Mashhadani, head of the Hammurabi Organization for Human Rights and Democracy Monitoring, points out locations of...

HRES 861 EH H . Res . 861 In the House of Representatives, U.S., Whereas the United States and its allies are engaged in a Global War on Terror....

The Republicans in the House know what is happening, and know how bad things are. By framing this important debate in such simplistic, venal terms, they are absolutely guaranteeing more of the same. And that, friends, is a war crime, and you can watch it happen today on television......... There is going to be a debate today on the floor of the House of Representatives regarding Iraq. Is it within the realm of possibility to categorize a debate on the floor of the House as a war crime? Is that too much of a stretch? Leveling a war crime accusation...

Text of a document discovered in terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's hideout. The document was provided in English by Iraqi National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie: --- The situation and conditions of the resistance in Iraq have reached a point that requires a review of the events and of the work being done inside Iraq. Such a study is needed in order to show the best means to accomplish the required goals, especially that the forces of the National Guard have succeeded in forming an enormous shield protecting the American forces and have reduced substantially the losses that were solely suffered...

There is an anti-war protest every Friday in Tucson called "Women in Black" on Speedway and Euclid from five to six pm. I had never been there before but possibly would have time today so I threw some signs, books and articles in the truck and took Speedway across town to scout the area on the way to Calvary Fellowship. I was reading "Saddam's Secrets" by Iraq General Georges Sada and "Mao, The Unknown Story" by Jung Chang and Jan Halliday that I had checked out from the library so I included them. One of my signs needed new backing...

Haditha: Reasonable Doubt “…the accused must be presumed to be innocent until his guilt is established by legal and competent evidence beyond reasonable doubt.” -- Uniform Code of Military Justice, USC Title 10, Chapter 47, Subchapter VII, Article 51(c)(1) by Andrew Walden Eager to score points against President Bush, US Representative John Murtha (D-PA) is calling the November 19 incident in Haditha “murder”. He claims there is a “cover up.” Over 40 news stories appeared Memorial Day weekend calling Haditha, “an atrocity” or “a massacre.” Murtha says, Haditha “is worse than abu-Ghraib.” Terrorist cheerleader and Cindy Sheehan associate Dahr Jamail...

WASHINGTON, June 2, 2006 – Staff Sgt. Aeyne Anne M. Dizicksa's cats are her family, so their welfare was her top priority when she faced deployment. Sweet Magnolia rests on the dryer in the home of Susan Hagrelius, her foster owner of more than a year. The 8-year-old cat will soon reunite with her owner, Staff Sgt. Aeyne Anne M. Dizicksa, a deployed Army reservist in the 719th Veterinary Medical Detachment who will return later this month. (The following story was written by Lori Kimble, a 31 year old teacher and Proud military wife. Mrs. Kimble, a California native, currently lives in Alabama..) I was sitting alone in one of those loud, casual steak houses that you find all over the country. You know the type - a bucket of peanuts on every table, shells littering the floor, and a bunch of Perky college kids racing around with long neck beers and sizzling platters. Taking a sip of my iced tea, I studied the crowd over the rim of my glass. My gaze lingered on a group...

God Bless the USA By: Lee Greenwood If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today, 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away. I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no...

Muslim Americans upset over new 9/11-related film By Jonathan Jones, STAFF WRITER FREMONT — At the United Muslim American symposium in Newark, Muslim-American leaders discussed the rhetoric regarding Iran, the war in Iraq, and the image of the United States in Islamic countries. But some also expressed concern that "United 93," a new film about the last moments of the last hijacked plane to crash on Sept. 11, 2001, could stir up anti-Islamic sentiments. Safaa Ibrahim, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations, took her staff of four women wearing a hijab, the traditional Muslim head scarves, to...

Moonbat Mysteries by Wayne Boettcher Posted: 05/05/2006 It was another sunny but breezy Spring day in Tucson as I rambled toward the Military Recruitment Center at 2302 E. Speedway on May 3rd, 2006. Birds were chirping, rabbits hopping and turtles harmonizing. No, wait. That was the Turtles on the radio. All in all, a happy relaxed morning in America. The "anti-war" protesting moonbats seemed a little late on their Daylight Savings Time switchover and were only now changing their weekly start time from 9:00 am to 8:00 am. I arrived at 8:05 am to find both sides already there....

There are a lot of people who say "I support the troops," put a yellow ribbon on their car.... The owners and staff of Fran O'Brien's Steak House have gone WAY beyond the call. Since October of 2003 Marty O'Brien and Hal Koster have been providing a free "Friday Night out on the Town" at Fran O'Briens Stadium Steak House for thousands of severely injured soldiers and marines who are recuperating at nearby Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Medical Center. Hal, a Vietnam vet, and his partner Marty, have made it a policy that they will continue to...

Backed by his loyal band and cheered on by service members from all branches of the armed forces, the 69-year-old put on a show that left the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen standing and yelling for more. You may remember a few months back around Novemeber, I was going to join the Marines. I finally told my parents and they freaked but they comprmised. I talked to both the Marines and Army I felt the Army gave me the best opportunity to serve my country in the way I want.I joined the Delay Entry Program in which I was able to move up a rank before going to boot camp. I'll be a signal support specialist, I leave two weeks after my graduation for boot camp. I look forward to serving in Iraq or Afghanistan that's why...
