The long and short of it is that I had read and heard it being spread around that Congress's approval rating is the worst it has been in 40 years. It has gone as low as 5 % apparently and hasnt approached 20 % approval in months. Considering that it is Republican and conservative majority, that suggests that maybe Americans now want to be under a purely liberal government and that most Americans want socialism. I mean, it seems like there is a zero chance of ensuring that Republicans still have the White House in 2012, especially since Americans have...

Candidates needed to file their slates of 20 delegates to the National Convention, along with 20 alternates, with the Secretary of State by November 18. The Gingrich campaign filed a partial slate of 14 delegates and 13 alternates, leaving 13 slots vacant. Among the 27 names Gingrich listed are three members of his staff. Rick Santorum (12 delegates and 12 alternates) and Michele Bachmann (18 delegates) also filed partial slates. Gary Johnson (10 delegates and one alternate)...

According to Gallup’s annual Crime Poll, conducted earlier this month, a record-low 26 percent of Americans favor a ban on the possession of handguns in the United States. When Gallup first asked Americans this question some 50 years ago, 60 percent favored banning handguns; however, since 1975, the majority of Americans have opposed such a measure, with opposition as high as 70 percent in recent years. This data follows the release last month of FBI statistics that show for the fourth straight year sales of firearms have increased while crime has continued to decrease. The Gallup poll also found that...

Public support for the new healthcare law dropped significantly in October, a new survey shows, dealing a blow to the Obama administration as Republican presidential candidates keep up their pledges to repeal the president’s signature domestic legislative achievement. More than half of Americans now view the law unfavorably, according to a tracking poll by the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation. And just 34% of Americans view the law favorably, the lowest level of support since the president signed the law in March 2010. Much of the decline appears to have been driven by faltering support among Democrats, just 52% of whom...

As the Sukkot holiday began, hundreds made time last week to turn out and show support for Jewish settlement on Eitam Hill, in the city of Efrat. Supporters came from Jerusalem, Hevron and elsewhere in the region as well as from Efrat itself. Youth from Efrat quickly put up a sukkah in the area and rooftops for a temporary synagogue. A banner hanging from the sukkah proclaimed, "Obligated to Eitam, obligated to the land of Israel." Local religious leader Rabbi Shlomo Riskin promised to work for the creation of a camp for youth at the location, and to pressure politicians...

RUSH: Sarah Palin announced her bus trip yesterday to take place over the Memorial Day weekend. Now, I want to spend some time trying to analyze something here. I don't want people to be confused when I say that the Democrats will always tell us who they fear. That is true, and I believe -- I firmly believe -- that the efforts that have been made to take Sarah Palin out are rooted in fear. At the same time, there are Democrats who do think she is a blithering idiot, love to make fun of her, and honestly do believe...

Support for Dark Energy by Paul Gilster on May 20, 2011 The far future may be a lonely place, at least in extragalactic terms. Scientists studying gravity’s interactions with so-called dark energy — thought to be the cause of the universe’s accelerating expansion — can work out a scenario in which gravity dominated in the early universe. But somewhere around eight billion years after the Big Bang, the continuing expansion and consequent dilution of matter caused gravity to fall behind dark energy in its effects. We’re left with what we see today, a universe whose expansion will one day...
