A hard coal power station in Hamburg that generates 1,600 MW was shut down for good on July 7, according to a local news service, a mere six years after its initial opening. And, the Moorburg plant's owner, Vattenfall, aims to pursue a new, hydrogen project at the same site, designed to transform offshore wind energy into green hydrogen. This is a power plant that lasted barely longer than a U.S. presidential term — practically unheard of for power plants generally, which are naturally built to last for much longer.

Everyone loves an exciting story with a happy ending. Today’s gratifying result comes to us from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Earlier this month, at o-dark-thirty, a pair of armed and masked aspiring rocket surgeons tried to kick in the door of a residence. One member of the dynamic duo had his finger on the trigger of his pistol and managed to shoot himself in the thigh with a negligent discharge. Better yet, Keanu Cook’s lack of trigger and muzzle control were captured by a Ring doorbell camera for posterity.

HAPPENING NOW: Police are responding to what appears to be an ATM explosion, in Brewerytown. I heard a loud bang, and the flames shortly followed Police say a 24-year-old man tried using an explosive device to blow up the ATM by Sidekicks Sports Bar, but when the device went off, he was thrown to the ground with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and died. Police say the explosive device never penetrated the ATM’s safe. Live explosives were recovered at the scene. Councilman Kenyatta Johnson surveyed the damage left behind after two ATMs were dismantled.

Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Mike McCaul told Breitbart News on Monday that the “terrorist hands off list” e-mails brought to Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) recently has been under investigation by the new Department of Homeland Security Inspector General John Roth for over three months now. “The new IG has inherited this matter. He’s a new IG. He’s pretty decent—well respected. Obviously, his predecessor was not. He’s now dealing with this matter,” McCaul said.
