BY THE OREGONIAN/OREGONLIVE (Compiled from news accounts, court records, public notices) Last week's arrest of a long-sought accused eco-saboteur pushed the spotlight back on a tight-knit cell of radical environmentalists responsible for a $48 million run of firebombings and other crimes across the West in the 1990s and early 2000s. Six men and five women prosecuted in Oregon received sentences ranging from three years to 13 years. They were arrested starting in 2005 in what the FBI called "Operation Backfire," a task force that tracked down the suspects with the help of an informant deep within the underground group....

The evidence in the May 17, 2015 Twin Peaks incident is voluminous. So, I put together some important video clips that tell the story in the clearest manner. I then attached the audio from the ONLY recorded police interview of a COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT WITNESS. He describes what he saw, including the fact that a Cossack pulled a gun first, Cossacks fired first, and the police fired on all of the bikers in what he describes as “automatic gun fire”. Here are some additional facts from the evidence: 1) In August 2014, 3 Cossacks went to police complaining that they were...

1. The “job creators” are CEOs, corporations, and the rich, whose taxes must be low in order to induce them to create more jobs. Rubbish. The real job creators are the vast middle class and the poor, whose spending induces businesses to create jobs. Which is why raising the minimum wage, extending overtime protection, enlarging the Earned Income Tax Credit, and reducing middle-class taxes are all necessary. 2. The critical choice is between the “free market” or “government.” Baloney. The free market doesn’t exist in nature. It’s created and enforced by government. And all the ongoing decisions about how it’s...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—The honorary cat mayor of Talkeetna continues to claw his way to recovery Tuesday after being attacked by a dog."Mayor" Stubbs, a cat, was jokingly given the title shortly after his birth in 1997. The title eventually led to stardom after Channel 2 shared the story in 2012. Lauri Stec is Stubbs' owner and a general manager of West Rib Pub and Grill in the tourist town down the road from Denali State Park. She says the cat is recovering at the Big Lake-Susitna Veterinary Hospital after the weekend attack, which left Stubbs with a punctured lung among other...
