Philippines to deport two [American] al-Qaeda ‘sympathizers’

THE Bureau of Immigration is set to deport two US citizens who were arrested two weeks ago in Cavite on suspicion of being sympathizers of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network.

Immigration Commissioner Andrea D. Domingo and the Philippine Navy flag officer in command, Adm. Ernesto de Leon, both announced that African Americans Jamil Daud Mujahid, 56, and his brother, Michael Ray Stubbs, were arrested by a joint military and immigration team on December 13 in Tanza, Cavite.

The two Americans have been tagged as undesirable aliens for allegedly meeting with known leaders of various fronts for terrorist groups in the country linked to al-Qaeda.

Domingo and de Leon said the US government has been informed of the arrest of the two Americans and arrangements are now being made for their deportation to the US.

The brothers are from Arkansas. Mujahid, whose former name was James Carl Stubbs Jr., was a teacher in California before traveling to Sudan, where he studied Arabic and converted to Islam.

Authorities who questioned Mujahid said he is inclined toward Islamic fundamentalism, based on his written account on how he changed religions.

Mujahid arrived in the country in February and married a Filipina. He lived for a while in Cabanatuan City before relocating to Cavite. He and his brother then bought houses there.

Intelligence officers alleged that in May 2003, Mujahid met with several leaders believed to be fronts of the al-Qaeda network in the country. These groups were founded by Mohammad Jamal Khalifa, bin Laden’s brother-in-law.

The fronts were reportedly being used as conduits to channel funds to terrorists cells allied with al-Qaeda in the Philippines.

Mujahid, however, said he met with various private organizations here to set up financing from US-based Muslim groups to build schools, homes and improve farms in Muslim communities in Mindanao.

Stubbs, on the other hand, is an air-conditioning technician at the Lawrence Livermore National Library, which is being tapped by the US Department of Homeland Security in researching ways to counter biological and chemical terrorism.

I'm sure they mean Laboratory, not Library. But it brings up the thought, how did he get hired there? It takes a "Q" clearance to work there. And an air conditioning tech would have the ability to introduce anthrax, or some other poison, into the the AC and really mess up the works of our largest and most secret weapons lab. And air conditioing techs usually don't have access to big bank accounts.

I certainly hope the Philipines doesn't deport these two and let them go free.

Michael Jay Stubbs,age 56,WAS employed at the Livermore Lab as an air conditioning technician,but his clearance was revoked in 2000 after he went on sick leave. The Feebies are making a (belated ?) check to see if he was exposed to sensitive information.

Livermore,some of you may recall,has had more than its share of "security lapses" over the years-including the unexplained disappearance of a small amount of Plutonium.
When some of its security officers tried to do their jobs,they were promptly sh*t-canned by the University.

James (now Jamil)age 55 told Philippine authorities he was just a nice guy who wanted to overthrow the US government (and who doesn't these days ? )James was palsey-walsey with the Abu Sayyaf kidnaping gang,and Jemaah Islamiah (Army of Islam)and with one of Osama's brothers-in-law.

Just saw them on TV; they are black. One of them worked at a high tech lab.

Forgot to mention,they do happen to be Black,but there's nothing to suggest the Nation of Islam or the mainstream Black Muslim outfits...yet.

James (the Brother now known as Jamil) left his job as a California school teacher, and traveled to Sudan ( a fun-loving place if ever there was one !) to "study Arabic".

Sudan is a nice place to visit,if you are into Islamic terrorism.
