It seems no one is safe on the streets of the Big Apple these days – not even beloved hometown actor and Brooklyn native Steve Buscemi. Buscemi, 66, was strolling through Kips Bay last week when a brute walked up and struck the “Boardwalk Empire” star in a broad-daylight attack – one of the latest unprovoked assaults in the five boroughs, law enforcement sources told The Post. The actor suffered swelling to his face and left eye and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, his deranged assailant took off and is still on the lam, police sources said.

Steve Buscemi found it 'almost impossible' to process what he saw after the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York City. The Reservoir Dogs actor used to be a firefighter in the city and answered a call to help out at the World Trade Centre site in 2001, and he admitted he was grateful that he already had sessions with a therapist because it helped him to talk through his feelings after a week working to find survivors. He wrote in an essay for TIME magazine: 'It actually felt good to be there. I was on the site for less than...

Actor Steve Buscemi has finally broken his silence to tell the world his expert opinion on the government shutdown. Buscemi opined about the shutdown and much else in a wide-ranging with The Guardian. “I think the shutdown is ridiculous. I think the Republicans in Congress are holding the country hostage. I think it’s criminal. I don’t see why they’re allowed to do it,” he said. Buscemi, 55, said he hopes voters punish the politicians behind the temporary halt of about 17 percent of the federal government at the next possible opportunity. “The tea party faction of the Republican party are...
