Boston Red Sox fans who attend Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees will no longer receive David Ortiz bobbleheads. The team promised to distribute Ortiz bobbleheads to the first 15,000 fans entering Fenway Park before Boston's game against the Yankees, but Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said he elected to postpone the promotion after doing a quality check. "I thought the bobbleheads were an inaccurate portrayal of David," Kennedy said. "To go further, I thought the facial features were racially insensitive."

After winning gold and beating her own world record by two seconds, Katie Ledecky must have felt pretty exuberant holding the American flag. "To see the 56 up there feels really good," she told journalists in Rio, referencing the her time, 3:56.46. The second-place finisher from the United Kingdom didn't even come close. And to make the moment even sweeter, Chelsea Clinton congratulated Ledecky on Facebook. Even in the midst of her mom's crazy presidential campaign, Chelsea still had the time for some patriotic well-wishing with one very important hashtag. Chelsea wrote on the wall of her public page, home...

The first weekend of the 2016 Rio Olympics is over and, with final results in, we’re now getting a cleared broadcast picture of where these Games are headed. It ain’t London, to put it mildly, but it may be online. Also, looking over the opening weekend, Rio is way behind 2012 and 2008 and even 1992 in total primetime viewers – something that ad buyers on NBC can’t be feeling Gold medal winning about.

Formula One pit stop is much more than just stopping, changing tyres and accelerating away. Absolute precision, perfect teamwork and split-second decisions are needed for a smooth pit stop. Pit stops are possibly the most visual evidence of why Formula One racing is a team sport.

The year is 2016. The United States most likely will elect a female president (RCP Averages say so). But American women, apparently, cannot be trusted to watch sporting events on their own. NBC thinks so, just ask the the poobahs that run the network's Olympic coverage, past and present.

The weeks and months leading up to the Rio Olympics saw a storm over Russian doping and concerns over the spread of the Zika virus. But with the action now underway, the start of the Games has seen some venues dominated by swathes of empty seats as fans struggled to navigate huge queues around the Olympic Park. The rugby sevens, tennis and boxing saw athletes compete with the stands half empty on Saturday and while some venues did see an increase in fan numbers throughout the day, the situation must be cause for concern for Rio chiefs.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti acknowledged Saturday that the results of November’s U.S. presidential election could weigh heavily on his city’s chances of hosting the 2024 Olympics, saying that a victory by Donald Trump could turn off IOC voters. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Garcetti also said Los Angeles could offer “the last, best hope” for the United States to host the Summer Olympics again before the American people begin “tuning out” from the games. I was in active wear and had no form of protection on me. The little pocket knives I had collected over the years were all at home in the drawer with my pepper spray," ... Other Booby Trap...

With many of the world's top golfers having already bowed out of this year's Olympic Games, those intrepid athletes brave enough to make the trip to Rio may be counting on an easier path to victory. While it's true that the likes of Jason Day, Jordan Speith and Dustin Johnson won't be a threat to the attending golfers' Olympic hopes this year, capybaras, mini crocodiles, monkeys, boa constrictors and other native wildlife will. The course that will host Olympic golf next Thursday is located in western Rio's Barra da Tijuca, an upscale neighborhood situated between two large lakes and on...
