This weekend Brett Favre, one of the greatest NFL players of all time, will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. On Thursday he was presented with the prestigious gold jacket, the highest honor a player can get in the NFL.
What is unique about the event is that his wife Deanna presented him with the jacket and will formally introduce him at Saturdays induction ceremony. She is only the second wife of a football player to do so.
Favre said about the decision to have his wife participate, Deanna is the best teammate Ive ever had She has been by my side throughout this journey and Im so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me.
The two have been together since high school and their teamwork was tested early on in their relationship. At age 19, Deanna found out she was pregnant and as Favre was the starting quarterback at Southern Mississippi University, they were not ready to be parents.
Her friends pressured her to have an abortion, but Deanna refused, saying, there was no way I could destroy an innocent life. She even admitted that having premarital sex was a bad choice, and for every choice theres a consequence.
It was their shared Catholic faith that ultimately convinced them not to have an abortion and so Deanna gave birth to their first daughter, Brittany. They remained together throughout Favres success in college and the NFL and finally got married in 1996 at the height of his career with the Green Bay Packers.

Did his Catholic faith also tell St Brett to cheat on his wife.
Good for you, Brett! :^)
It is an entirely different organ that encourages otherwise “good men” to cheat on our wives.
No but it gave him the sacrament of Confession so that he could heal from that transgression.
“Did his Catholic faith also tell St Brett to cheat on his wife.”
When you become sinless you let us know.
Will his sexting dick pics be on display in the hall of fame?
Deanna Favre is the real saint of the two: refused to kill her kid, stuck with him for 8 years before he proposed, got Brett off of Vicodin, got Brett away from alcohol, forgave him when he cheated, and kept her head on straight when she was diagnosed with cancer. I think Brett knows how lucky he is to have her.
I loved it when St. Brett got a female masseuse fired when she refused to have sex with him, very heart warming.
Sounds like Deanna is the one with the Catholic faith. I don’t think Brett said any Hail Mary’s before he sent a pic of his schlong to that Jets reporter.
“Did his Catholic faith also tell St Brett to cheat on his wife.”
No. The Catholic faith does not condone extramarital activity.
However, Scripture does say that all have sinned, and fall short of the Glory of God.
And that includes you, mouse!, so cut the self-righteous nonsense.
First QB in NFL hstory to record his own sack.
Right.
‘course the prospect of fortune and fame may have played a part in keeping keeping her strong.
Or tweet his junk.
I can forgive the dude, but come on...
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
I’m just saying...Brett led a life far from Christian. Never heard him mention his faith. If he has a relationship with God, that’s great. I believe it was Deanna who was the strong one and has talked her faith in the past. Obviously, she is a lot more forgiving than I would be. Addiction - Adultery. She started out young, pregnant and somewhat alone while Brett chased his dream. Yet, from what I can tell, she has been a tremendous mother for her daughters. She stayed in Mississippi when Brett started out. Then, stayed behind in Green Bay so her daughters could adjust while Brett ran home to Mississippi for the summer. I remember years ago Brett saying his father urged him to marry Deanna.
Brett may be a great quarterback but I don’t think faith has anything to do with it.
Adultery is despicable but like any other sin, it is one the Lord can forgive you if you are saved. I have no clue what Brett Favre’s personal relationship with Christ is. I’m not about to guess what it is. I don’t for 99.9% of the people out there.
I am pretty sure Obama is a Muslim. I am pretty sure the Clinton’s are secular atheists. All of them put on a good show of being Christians, but are bald faced liars. So I do judge some people on their true vs. perceived faith, but when it comes to 99.9% of the people, I don’t try to guess the relationship someone has with Christ. Only Jesus knows that, and that is good enough for me.
Now some people just hate Favre, or Brady, or Cam Newton, or name whatever athlete you want to name — and will uses any excuse against them.
As for me, I think a good policy on someone’s personal relationship with the Lord is “Judge not lest ye not be judged.
The article didn't say he was perfect. No one is.
He’s not being inducted because of being Catholic
He’s being inducted mainly for 297 straight starts ..321 counting post season...which is a stand alone amazing feat
