The National Theatre of Scotland has banned the word “spooky” over its “racial connotations” despite nobody complaining and despite there being no record of it ever being used as a racial slur in the United Kingdom. Yes, really. “A source at the Scottish theatre told the Daily Record that no one has complained about the term “spooky” but they were concerned the word could become problematic in the future,” reports RT. So based on the prospect that somebody, somewhere, might be offended in the future by a completely non-controversial word, it has to be banned. Apparently, the word “spooky” may...

Spooky as hell If your mouse and pc work like mine: Right click on the picture. In the drop down menu click on open/view photo. Hold the shift button down and turn the middle wheel forward to enlarge the picture. If you have a magnifier, use it to look closer at the picture. The bay window to the left .. middle window, enlarge it if you can. It's fuzzy but what do you see other than the lamp shade? (Just to the right of the shade and a little lower.) I'll tell you why I am asking after I get...

President Donald Trump insisted Tuesday he trusted the United States intelligence agencies, as he cleaned up his remarks from Monday’s press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Let me begin by saying that once again the full faith and support for America’s intelligence agencies…I have full faith and support for America’s greatest intelligence agencies. I always have,” Trump said. The White House lights went out after Trump spoke, sparking him to joke that it might be the intelligence agencies messing with the power. “Whoops, they just turned off the lights,” he joked. “That must be the intelligence agencies.” Heavy thunderstorms...

HURLBURT FIELD, FLORIDA – In the not-too-distant future, when ground troops call for close-air support, the ‘Ghostrider’ and its deadly arsenal could come to their rescue. The AC-130J Ghostrider is set to be the most heavily-armed gunship in history, bristling with 30mm and 105mm cannons, AGM-176A Griffin missiles, and the ability to carry Hellfire missiles and GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs. But that’s not all. Some day in the future, the Ghostrider could even be equipped with a high-energy laser. That’s right. Lasers. When it hits the battlefield in a few short years, the Ghostrider will be the most heavily armed...

Before folks sat around the TV watching American Horror Story or classic movies like The Shining and Friday the 13th, they gathered around the radio to listen to their favorite weekly programs. Many of them were comedies or dramas, just like today’s television programs, but there were also shows dedicated to the creepy crawly — that made goosebumps rise and sent shivers down the spine. It’s often said that what you can’t see is scarier than what you can, and radio programs can sweep you up and create a whole spooky world in your imagination. With Halloween coming this weekend,...

Hungarian photographer Péter Komka wanted to capture the Halloween asteroid that looked like a skull, as it made its closest approach to Earth. What he got instead was a striking image of a meteor streaking across the sky. Komka set up his camera gear on an equatorial mounted tripod near the medieval castle of Salgó, and took several long exposure shot of the night sky, hoping to get some good enough image of the 2015 TB145 asteroid. Sadly the spooky space rock was too faint and did not appear in his photos. But what he finally captured in one photo...

Astronomers initially thought the object was an asteroid when they spotted it in early October, and named it Asteroid 2015 TB145. But using the US space agency's Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, experts "have determined that the celestial object is more than likely a dead comet that has shed its volatiles after numerous passes around the sun," NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory said in a statement late Friday. ... The space rock has already grabbed attention with its unusually high speed and big size, about as large as a football stadium at 2,000 feet (600 meters) in diameter....

A newly discovered asteroid larger than a skyscraper will wiz past the Earth on Halloween, making a dangerously close approach to the planet. The asteroid, officially named 2015 TB145, was just discovered on Oct. 10, 2015, and is expected to make its close approach to the Earth at the end of the month. Some have already given the asteroid the nickname of "Spooky" due to the fact that it's closest approach to Earth is going to occur on Halloween. Fortunately, the asteroid will miss the Earth, but it will still make an uncomfortably close approach of 302,885 miles. To put this...

Known variously as Puff the Magic Dragon, Dragonships or just Spooky, the AC-47 gunship, with its broadside battery of GE miniguns, was a sight to behold. In 1965 with the grunts on the ground needing as much persistent close in air support as could be spared, the Air Force went about converting a handful of World War II-era C-47 transports into lead slinging death dealers by attaching a number of General Electric GAU-2/M134 miniguns arranged to fire through the left-hand side of the plane at a target below.

Everyone should respond thee way they feel. IMHO this may not be the best time to post, discuss what's on your mind. My reaction to seeing it was to just look at it, ponder the terrible, unbelievable irony, tragedy of what the future, fate had in store for all those involved and beyond.

There are countless sounds cataloged of strange, weird sounds, many might just as well have originated in a parallel universe or dimension. Two specific examples are 1.the utterly alien sound emanating from the World Trade Center recorded just a few days ago and appearing on Fox News. 2. Similar spine-tingling sounds occurring during the Holocaust Memorial Siren in Israel signaling two minutes of silence and also separately during the memorial for the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 against the Nazis. But there's a huge collection of strange, freaky stuff recorded coming out of anywhere, but appears to be emanating from the...

NASA: We Still Don't Know What Those Shiny Particles On Mars Are, But They're Not From The Rover Dina SpectorOct. 18, 2012, 5:35 PMNASA confirmed this afternoon that some bright particles found in a hole dug by the Curiosity's scooper are actually from Mars and not debris from the rover. This is the second round of shiny mysterious objects the rover has run into while scooping soil at Glenelg. The first was probably a piece of plastic or tape that fell off of the rover itself. Adam Mann with WiredScience has more: After last week’s plastic encounter, Curiosity’s science team...

...Businesses not only have to absorb these costs, but also those imposed by income taxes, payroll taxes, corporate taxes, property taxes, capital gains taxes, unemployment insurance taxes, workmen’s compensation taxes, and other payments to federal, state, and local forms of government. When all is said and done, government taxes compose 47.82 percent of the cost of the average kid’s costume, $11.66 of the average price. But the government’s tricks don’t end there. The Halloween season brings with it $2 billion in candy purchases. Due to excise taxation on sweets in addition to the burden of taxes placed on the confectionery...

From the 1974 album: "Starless and Bible Black" this song written over 35 years ago draws some interesting parallels to Obama. When you think about Obama's history and some of the things that define his personality, the words hit spot on in a quite unnerving fashion. Thats all I'm gonna say. Except. WHOOOooo Scary.

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. (AFNEWS) -- Spooky is about to get a little scarier. Crews at Hurlburt Field have put the finishing touches on the first AC-130U Spooky gunship armed with the 30 mm Bushmaster cannon. The rearmed Spooky retains its 105 mm cannon but replaces the 25 mm and 40 mm guns with Bushmasters. The project is a "win-win," according to Air Force Special Operations Command officials -- unless you're one of the bad guys. "We're buying increased lethality and accuracy at the same time we're improving reliability," said Lt. Col. Mike Gottstine, AFSOC's chief of strike/intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance...
