Solvang, a small city in California that proudly claims to be “The Danish Capital of America,” has come under fire from Denmark itself for some perceived intolerant behavior

SOLVANG, Calif. - The Solvang City Council voted three to two on Tuesday against an application by The Rainbow House Inc. The application was for streetlight banners as well as crosswalk painting in June for Pride Month. Council members Claudia Orona, Elizabeth Orona and Robert Clarke voted against the motion. Kiel Cavalli, founder of Rainbow House and co-owner of ONEder Child, said he proposed the pride flag display to show the community how Solvang supports the LGBTQIA+ community.

For the Central Coast town of Solvang, its signature will always be its faux-traditional Danish village, built in the 1940s. Owl stuck in power line in SolvangThe Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to an owl stuck in a high voltage line in Solvang on Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, Santa Barbara County Fire assisted PG&E after reports of an owl stuck in their power lines. Firefighters arrived to see an owl tangled in high voltage lines on Mission Drive in Solvang. Firefighters worked with PG&E crews along with Santa Barbara County Animal Control to help safely remove the owl from the lines. The owl was safely removed and taken to the Ojai Raptor Center in Ventura County for treatment.

The Pentagon has responded to a globally-released ‘Kill List’, asking law enforcement to give extra protection for military personnel whose personal information was released,News Channel 10 reports. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports the Pentagon spent the weekend notifying the soldiers who appeared on the list, and urged city police departments and military police to increase patrol in the neighborhoods where the targeted live.
