The U.S. Soccer Federation's National Council on Saturday voted to repeal its policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem, according to reports. The USSF board of directors scrapped the policy last year, but it still required the approval of the council. ESPN.com and France24 report the decision was approved by 71% of the council.

The biggest soccer stars in the world are known by one name: Pele. Ronaldo. Messi. The United States has never produced that kind of world-class talent, but a 19-year-old from Hershey, Pennsylvania, is poised to change that. Christian Pulisic is not only the youngest player on the U.S. National Team, he may just be the best American to ever play the game. This week, Pulisic will play with Team USA as it tries to qualify for the World Cup. For the last two years, he's been playing professionally with one of the most revered clubs in Europe. We spent time...

MEXICO CITY, October 23, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Mexican-American movie star Eduardo Verastegui has begun campaigning against California's homosexual "marriage" law, and is incurring the wrath of Mexican homosexuals as a result. Following Verastegui's reported decision to lead the campaign for the Hispanic organization "Viva la Familia" (Long Live the Family) enraged members of "Tri Gay", Mexico's self-proclaimed "gay soccer selection" expressed their displeasure against the pro-life, pro-family actor and entertainer. At a press conference on October 22 in the offices of Mexico's Secretary of Health, the team denounced Verastegui. The vice-president of Tri Gay, Eduardo Velasquez, tore up a picture...

  • Soccer: Why is it hated?

mods-If this isn't in the right place please move or cut it. Why do most Americans hate soccer? It's not just that they don't like it. They are actively against it. Soccer takes more skill and endurance than the other sports. In middle and high school you take a beating.(Elbowed, tripped, kicked, tackled- All done fairly or behind the ref's back and without body armor) There are many tactics decided by the players(unlike football and baseball). It's a sport many different people can do. Not just people who are huge or work out daily at the gym. Fast people, skilled...
  • Is Soccer Un-American?

The late Mike Royko once wrote that soccer's worldwide popularity only proves that most of the world is too poor to build bowling alleys. I'm inclined to agree, and so is the American public, which has rejected the sport by paying it absolutely no attention. So why then is Commerce City, a working-class municipality, banking its future on a soccer stadium? Last week, Commerce City officials and Kroenke Sports Enterprises announced plans to develop more than 360 acres of land that would house a soccer utopia. (Is that an oxymoron?) The complex would include a 20,000-seat soccer stadium for the...
